For those who have been 3, 6, 9 months to a year or more cig free..........................

Do you feel 'better' and if so, do you feel better as much as you expected? It has been about 3 months for me. I don't stink (thank God - but that is something that I never noticed about myself as much as others noticed it about me). I can smell things much better, some things I haven't smelled in a long time. My sense of taste has changed/returned. I feel somewhat better but not as much as I thought I would at 3 months cig free.

Just curious.

I'm 2 years without a cigarette and I smoked for almost 25 years.

I definitely feel better. My blood pressure has improved. My resting and max heart rate have decreased. I don't think i get sick less, but the severity of my illnesses are less. A cold does not turn into bronchitis that lasts for weeks on end as it always did when i was smoking. I can exercise more. My chest isn't tight when I lie down at night, like it used to be.

All of these changes were fairly gradual, iirc.

I'm in my third month of not smoking and I definitely feel better overall - I can take deep breaths and climb several flights of stairs without getting (very) winded. This is somewhat offset by the fact that I'm not getting as much exercise due to being able to vape at my desk or in my living room and not having to get up and go outside. But if I made a deliberate effort to exercise I'm sure I'd be feeling MUCH better than I did as a smoker.

only 1 month analogue free, feel 1000x better, can inhale all the way now- b4 lungs wouldn't expand without going into coughing fit, just went to the docs and blood pressure is excellent, I have more energy, sleep better(no coughing), can walk dog without getting winded. might start jogging, which a month ago I never would of dreamed of doing. Food tastes great, no stinky smoke smell on me.
I smoked 1 pad for 25 yrs. these ecigs are a godsend.
still trying to find my ADV, tried a lot of sweet flavours, but get sick of them late in the day,but now trying ry4, and vanilla tobaccos.

Hello, I am only 14 days or so into vaping. Did NOT plan on quitting smoking, just an "extra hobby" and now I am 2 days off the stinkys. I know you asked those who've been off 3, 6, 9 months (not 2 days like me) but i did quit smoking once before in my life, I smoked for about 20,21 yrs then quit (not cold turkey but slowly with behavior modification) and stayed off for like 20 years. So even though I have only been "off" for 2 days (but really reduced analog use for 2 weeks) I want to add the note to this question that is it my belief that "how much better you feel" can be age-dependent, very much age-dependent. I am now over 60 and NOTHING "healthy" that I start makes me "feel better" or "feel better sooner" like it did when i was in my 20s, 30s even 40s. It does have an effect, but not as dramatic.

Sense of Smell and lung capacity is much better. I also am sleeping through the night now. I use to have to wake up around 3 AM to have a quick smoke.

Im 54 and been smoking since 17 years old. So its a great improvement. My last x-ray showed very small white spots on my lungs.....which was the start of something really bad... my doctor told me it wouldnt grow if I stopped now......which I did.

I forget what you call it, but its where the white spots grow like spider webs and they are scar tissue...and will never heal.......which in effect makes your lungs not be able to expand and contract.

Having a b rain fart as what it is called..... Anyway.... Im feeling better overall.

I just turned 69 last month and had been smoking a little over a pack a day (two when I used to drink).

I have experienced all the benefits mention here however my sense of taste and smell while much improved is not as good as I was hoping for albeit I can now smell and taste my morning coffee. I have a feeling that at my age taste and smell is not ever going to be what it once was plus I believe that 55 years of heavy smoking has actually permanently damaged my sense of smell and taste.

The biggest and most noticeable effect I have experienced is when I wake up in the morning I actually feel GOOD. While I was still using analogs when I woke up it was like I felt drugged, hung-over, groggy and it would take several cups of coffee and an hour or two to clear up my head. This positive effect started almost immediately after stopping the analogs.

Also while still on the analogs I had a very bad cough and wheezing sound when I breathed. I had blamed the wheezing on the heart med I was taking (a known side effect of this drug). Well within a week of quitting the analogs the coughing and wheezing disappeared and I am still taking the same medications... must be just a coincidence - :)

Also I can walk up the hill to the mail box (about a city block) without caring my cell phone incase I collapsed half way there. I still get a little winded but if I push thru it and take normal breaths it passes and I feel great.

OK - enough, vaping for me is a good thing and the only thing that has kept me off the analogs with no particular effort on my part and I have tried everything - gum, patches, cold turkey and Chantix. Vaping just worked and I didn't even have plans of quitting when I started, it just looked cool and I thought it might help keep the stink out of my house.

After smoking for almost 27 years, I started vaping about 8 month ago and cut down my analogs then, finally completely quit just over 6 months ago after I finally got a better setup. I just stopped without ever feeling the need for a cigarette whatsoever. I did try a real cigarette a few month ago, put it out after 2 drags, it was just disgusting, it tasted like what I would imagine licking an ashtray would taste like...
I have experienced all the benefits I would have expected after quitting cigarettes, no more wheezing and smokers cough, vast improvement with taste/smell, and I get less and less short-winded as time goes by. I also did not gain any weight, actually lost a few pounds without trying. The only problem I've been having is sleeping... When I do I sleep, I feel like I rest better and wake up feeling better than I used to, but I' ran into problems with falling asleep/insomnia. I figured it out so, too much Nicotine. Coming from Camel Wides (mixing in Camel unfiltered every once in a while), I started out with 36mg and as I am now slowly reducing strength it's getting better.
