Hi all! I've been cruising through several pages of threads here in Reoville in hopes of learning more about these devices. My birthday and one year vape-a-versary are coming up and I'm seriously considering an LP Grand and an LP RM2 for my gift to myself. Currently I have two provari's and two eBaron Pro Drippers that I've been using exclusively since about November '13. I'm building my own coils with kanthal ready wires and silica cord purchased at Stormy's Vapor Cellar. The only gripe I have is that I can't vape/drip and drive.

From what I've read there are regular REO's and then there are VV REO's. My Provari's are variable voltage and I like that aspect of the device. I've gotten so used to the VV part of owning a provari that it makes me a little nervous thinking about buying a device that doesn't have that option. But I see that there are so many of you who own the regular REO's and love them and are living the non VV life just fine. So I guess my question, as far as VV goes, is.... I'll be ok right? LOL! I'll be happy? Someone waylay my fears of not having that button to adjust my volts up and down, please.

One more question...The LP version can or cannot be used with a cartomizer or dripping atty? The well looks like it might be to shallow. I haven't used a cart or dripping atty in months but I'm wondering if they will be an option for me with the LP version.

Thanks in advance for your help!

I think you would be very pleased with a LP Grand with RM2. No variable volt but you have alot of wiggle room with the RM2 atty being able to find your sweetspot with resistance levels. 1.0 ohm is a very popular number. You also have many more REO colors and options to choose from as the VV REOs are no longer made and would need to find in the classies.

Well as a VV/VW fan myself I was a bit worried as well when igot my first reo. My experiences with mech mods have been disappointing as nothing irks me more than battery drop off but I have to say I am pleasantly surprised that I have noticed little to none since I've started using my reo grand. :)

IMHO, you will not mind the non-VV aspect at all. If you get the Reomizer 2.0 (RM2), you can adjust the vape just by how you make your coil. I have a VV REO (no longer in production) that I almost never use. I don't think you'll miss your VV at all. The LP will handle any of the bottom-fed rebuildables. If you get the LP, get the LP Reomizer 2.0 also. The LP will give you the most flexibility, and that's what I'd get if I were buying today. The catch cup of the LP is shallow/non-existent. Once you try the RM2, you won't want to use a carto or a dripper anyway. With the REOS and the juice bottle on board, why would you ever want to use a dripper? If you want to drip a new flavor, just do it with the BF RBA --- won't hurt anything. You could use a carto with the LP (don't think you'll want to) because they really don't leak around the connection anyway....

I was worried as well... never used mechs much, and I REALLY thought I wanted a regulated device. Once I got my first Reo, I never looked back. I use AWs in my mini & Sony VTC4 & 5 in my grand, and I don't notice a difference in vape quality until it's time to change batteries. And building coils on an RM2 (or most other bf atties) is easier than on a dripper pro.
I don't miss my Provari at all, but I really missed my dripper pro (I personally think it has the best flavor, but I've gotten use to, and now prefer, a slightly airier draw) but you know what? This works great! I don't squonk it because the juice come out through the airflow holes, but it still works as a tf dripper.

Hello pennysmalls
Before getting my first REO my go-to mod was a provari and eBaron dripper pro. I could not wait until I got home every day so I could put the leaking PT2 on the desk and hit the eBaron. Then I was lucky enough to get my hands on a Hana V2 in one of the first sale events on Facebook so I thought I was in heaven.....as long as I was at home anyway.

During a search for a all day device I ran across a post on the REO mods. Curiosity got the better of me so I placed my order.

Within days of getting my first REO a VV grand with RM2 my other mods started slowly collecting dust. Even the provari w/eBaron Pro. Then I ordered a grand and a eBaron Spiral. I found out real quick that I did not like the bottom air hole. The gurgle was not my thing so I sold the eBaron Spiral and bought another RM2.

fast forward in time.......................

I only use non-VV REO's...15 of them to be exact. I prefer the LP models so I can use any atty I want but I do have regular grands and mini's that are not LP.

Some people love the variable voltage but IMO it is not needed. I build the coil I want for the vape I am looking for and adjust accordingly. When the vape gets weak I change the battery. This vape quality diminishes for me around 3.85-3.75.

If you like dripping and the flavor you get from an eBaron and provari set-up I expect you will love the REO.

good luck with your search.

Good golly miss Molly, your giving Karen a run for her money

penny, you won't miss the VV at all and unless you go super low ohms won't see much drop in useable battery life. I sold my Provari over a year ago to go all mech and sold most all of them when I found the joy that is REO.

Thank you for the feedback everyone. After posting this thread, within minutes, I received a pm from mackman that a VV was up for sale in the classies. I couldn't believe the timing, what a co-incidence! I couldn't ignore the serendipity in it all. I sent a pm to the seller and as of tomorrow a VV Grand will be heading my way! I got it! I'm feeling a little freaked out by how the universe just sort of took over for me and placed what I was looking for right into my lap.

Ok, I'm very excited now and having a hard time thinking straight...questions...I know I have questions, I just need some time to settle down, lol! If anyone feels like volunteering info on the VV REO's please feel free!

I know the VV aren't made anymore but I'm curious as to what they used to sell for $$.

I guess this changes my options for atomizers but I know I can still get the regular RM2, so I'll go with that. Now I have to buy everything to go with the REO and the wire and a meter and replacement parts. Do the repair kits on reomods.com apply to the VV versions?

Oh, and Raynman I'm in Valparaiso, northwest of you.

I think the last ones were about $195 so yeah you stole that one. I'd say wrap a 1.8 to 2 ohm coil that should be a good starting point. Be very careful with it I have one that I dropped and now need to send to the Spa for some ModFather love. My VVW and other VV will never go to work with me. So happy everything fell into place for you. BTW thanks for saving me the bux for this one.

It's been almost 2 months since I got my 1st reo (a vv reo). Since that time, every member of my family has switched to reos, and there are 6 of us. We all used provaris and kayfuns along with various mechs and drippers and 3 of us have ZNAs. Nothing I own can beat my reos with the rm2, they are practically all I use anymore. I had to send my VV to the hospital cause I dropped it and the fire button got stuck, but here are my 3 grands

Advice on the VV Grand... A couple of things.

1) Since you are rebuilding - The notcigs chip can be a little finnicky at low ohms. I just re-tested the chip in my VVW yesterday and it sees everything below 1.15 ohms as a short. I have another device here with a notcigs chip and that one sees everything below 1.25 ohms as a short. (I posted about that recently and had forgotten my numbers... but that's how they tested yesterday). I've read a few posts where people could get as low as 1.0 ohm before the mod thought it was a short, and that's how the chip is designed (to see everything below 1 ohm to be a short). My experience is a little different than theirs, so I'll continue to suggest being aware of the fact the chip is indeed designed to shut down if it thinks the ohms are too low and acting accordingly building coils.

2) If you have a volt meter handy, I suggest marking the wheel with some nail polish or model paint at intervals you'll remember. Mine is marked at 3.5, 4.5, and 5.0v. I used white, yellow, and red for my markings. That way, I always have a visual method of knowing roughly what volts I'm set at. It's handy.

My VVW has proven itself to be plenty durable and has been my primary PV for well over two years now. I used to fret over drops and tip-overs etc... but after multitudes of minor mishaps, it still works every single time I push the button. The only time I ever worry about it enough to carry a different PV is when I know I'm going to get wet. I've never let my VVW get wet.

Dang, six of you switched over? That says a lot. I ordered my RM2 last night and now I sit and wait. I'm looking forward to trying my first build with it but feeling intimidated too. The eBaron coils are no brainers so these are going to be my first "real" coil builds. I see you have all LP Grands, I'm hoping I don't regret not going with the LP. We'll see how it goes! :)

Ah, thank you six, I needed to know all of that. I'm going to shoot for over 1.0 ohms until I'm more familiar with it all. Probably 1.5 ohm and no less for starters. Thank you!

Congratz on your score! And welcome to Reoville!

I use a 2.0-2.1 ohm coil on my VV Woodvils. I had a VV Grand and used the same. It allowed plenty range to get the vape I wanted.

Look on reosmods for the VV Grand owners manual. It will give you some good info.

You will want to use 2 of the AW IMR 18350 batteries. They work well in the VV REO's.

I know you will enjoy your new VV Grand, and we are always around if you have any more questions!
