Question - has anyone found that after stopping the nasties you vap more, and this apart of giving up baccy and will it pass?

Dear all,
I have recently quit the baccy for vaping, for 2 weeks now and i love it. I tried a friends nasty and it made me feel so ill it was unreal! I guess i was a medium level smoker, getting though 25 grams of baccy in 3-4 days. I am using a cartomizer set up and have found this to be easy and bar the odd pang for a rollie i dont miss smoking at all.

When i started out i was using a cartomizers every 3 days, but in the last week i have got to using one every other day and the pangs for rollies have slighty increased. i am never going back but i am very aware that some of my nicotine receptors will be dying off as vap isnt as easily absorbed by the lung so each vap delivers a tad less nicotine that a nasty - although it doesnt really feel like it does - but i have read it does so thats what i am going on.

Of course vaping is better than the nasties and i'm never going back - it's just slighty concerned me as i dont want to increase my nicotine intake. I decided to be strict on myself and make sure i stick to a new cartomizer every 3 days but this left me feeling rattled from withdrawel so i have brought some e-liquid to give me some extra but taste different from my cartomizers just because they where there and i thought i'd try some out.

I was wondering if anyone else have had this - at about a week and a half they find they need more hits in the day and does this drop off naturally in a bit when someone straight away starts vaping? I am guessing once the 21 days ( it takes that long for nicotine receptors to fully die off ) from when i last smoked are over this will sort itself out and i will naturally go back to my 3 days on a cartomizer as then my body will be fully adjusted as right now i am withdrawing from the baccy and i.m guessing its more than a nicotine withdrawel as those damn baccy companies put all sort of junk in baccy to get people more hooked than the nicotine will ever do and i am guessing this will be adding to my increased vaping.

I have decided that come what may i will keep to my 3 cartomizers a day - because i don't want to be taking in more nicotine than i was as a smoker. Of course it may be that i smoked more than i thought as many smoker down play how many they have even to themselves so maybe this is where my true addiction levels go too. So it may be that or maybe this is something that happens to everyone.

Hey Rakel, Cudos on the quiting!!!
I was a heavy smoker (2 pack's a day) for many years, when I started vaping i was absolutly chain vaping and locked on this forum all day for support. The point is that i got from 40 cig's a day to 0:)
Don't worrie so much about the nicotine: you can change to lower nic juices, perhaps in a clearomizer, and regulate your nic intake.
What i mean is that you can vape all day long with same amount of nic and reduce it over time when you are comfortable to do so!

The public health "quit smoking" advocacy groups like to state that you'll be "cured" after 72 hours without tobacco in your system, and the mental habit will be gone after three weeks, but it is just not true. If it was really that easy, than most of us would not be here.

Sorry that I cannot advise you on exactly what liquid nic amount can replace your old "nasties" habit, but if you are stressing big time for a cigarette, then you are probably not using enough. You are a new cig quitter (and huge congratulations on that!), but I suggest doing whatever you need to right now to feel as comfortable as possible and off the cigs. Take it day to day now and don't worry about the long term accomplishment for a few months.

Again, kudos to you for giving up your "nasties"

I agree with VapDrak, you should not limit yourself from nicotine. By vaping, you already eliminated mass amounts of poison that you get from those "nasties". Vape as much as you need to. Later you can plan on lowering your nicotine. I started with 24mg and now I'm down to 12mg a year and a half later. Don't worry and keep doing what works to get you away from the nasty. Good luck.

Don't worry about how much you vape at first. Just focus on NOT using tobacco right now.

Once you put some time between you and the last time you smoked you will most likely cut down on your own.

I had to learn the hard way a couple times just how much is too much and felt pretty bad for an hour or so, but I find that it's hard to do - you really have to chain vape. You are definitely getting more nic from a smoke, in addition to all of the other crap. Sounds like you aren't vaping all that much, I wouldn't worry about it if you are feeling okay.

Hiya Everyone and thanks for my very warm welcome to the forum and the world of vaping .... you guys are totally wicked and them some )

You have completely put my mind at ease and your all right, it is a big deal i have quit the nasties and i guess i should ease up on myself. Its good to know what the average user goes though, and that i can up my intake of vap without it being outside the scope of normal use. When i 1st started smoking the nasties i got to 40 a day within 6 months and then spent the rest of my 15 years of smoking keeping tabs on myself to make sure i didnt go mental. I come from a family of heavy chain smokers so its in my genes for me a major user so i am very aware of this and i didnt want to adjust my nicotine habit to what i was at my worst in smoking.

I am on 2.4 prefilled cartomizers at the mo which is enough to satisfy my craving and i have decided after considering your advice to use the 2.4 prefilled for where my main nastie need was such as 1st thing in the morning and after tea time and i am going to give myself free reign on using 1.8 juice in recyled cartomizers and not worry about it and just then focus on making sure i never go back to baccy. I am buying prefilled cartomizers at the mo mainly because i am new to this and i wanted to be sure in my early days that i had a satisfying vap and if i get prefilled one i am sure to get that. I have found it very easy actually to re-fill my prefilled and well the cost is better and i dig having flavours over the baccy, its so much fun. I am currently vaping a cola, cherry and vanilla mix of my own and its so damn lush i could vap it all day.

Its great to know that in am not going over broad and i can up my intake and still be in the realms of a normal user. I am doing o.k and alot better now i am letting my go and not worrying or focusing on how much i am using and you know - i haven't used that more than i did yesterday and i have being wanting less to chain vap. I think maybe all the over thinking was making me want more and now i am relaxing with it - i'm finding i am taking natural breaks without even trying.

Its amazing the power of over thinking can have on someone. And for sure i am withdrawing from the crap in the nasties - i can feel it all ozing out like low level pins and needles and the stuff i have been coughing up is gross - thats enough never to want to go back to the nasties after seeing that stuff i can tell you lol!!!!!!!!!!!

Sitting down, facing forward.
One of the things that seems to lead to "chain vaping", at least to me, is the fact that there is not definite beginning and end like with a conventional cigarette. It's so easy to just keep going until the battery or carto/clearo/tank is empty. With a cigarette you light up, smoke and then put it out when it burns down. An e-cig/pv/mod just doesn't "burn down" very fast at all.

At your rate, don't worry about a thing. As has been said, most are at the 3-4 ml day or higher level. If you do overdo it and get too much nicotine, you'll know it by the head spin and crazy dreams.

Thanks awsum140. Thats a very good point and was defo apart of mine. When i smoked roll ups i often used to roll one up - put it in the ashtray and then after a cuppa smoke it. So with my e-cigs after considering what you said i started to put mine out in a glass tealight jar like i did with roll ups, have my cuppa and then vap and i have found this has put me back into my old routine and has reduced my chain vapping by miles. It's amazing how much of anything we do is because of conditioning and how much is because we want something.

It's been 2 weeks now since i quit and yesterday i had a a few pulls of a nasty. My friend was over with roll ups and it was more out of curiosity to see how one would be now, as i know with the vaping i am never going back. In a week of getting my e-cig i preferred vaping to smoking so this time round my giving up felt natural rather an a forced affair so i wanted to see how one really was after a good while. It was a totally disgusting experience, akin to someone shoving a burning tyre in my mouth, the nicotine hit was very much lacking in its overall relaxing potential ( even though more is supplied ) and left me with an all over yucky feeling for ages. So it was really good to know i am completely cured of any desire to have baccy - vaping is in every way better so there's no contest really.

Once i have saved some pennies i am thinking of upgrading to some kind of tank jobbie and keep my more trad e-cigs for when i am out and about. I think it will be so much better to have a manual battery and from what i have seen in youtube reviews you can create some proper vap and blow big rings with which looks like top fun. I know nothing of whats out there so if anyone has any pointers that would be ace indeed )

congrats Rakel, for me its a lot more guilt free than smoking and when vaping I use it as seems pleasurable without subconsiously knowing its wrong if thats even possible. The manual battery for me is the way to go but in the first stages of using it was odd to push something and puff as to only puff to get joy from a smoke. That was 100% my mind trying to tell me it was not right but in less than a day that ended .As for pointers you will get advice on certain devices for sureand get sample packs of juice from great vendors(kinda like finding the best ice cream).

All good advice here, for sure.

And Rakel, your body will tell you when it's had too much nic. You'll get a headache, or feel queasy, just a general feeling of "I should lie down for a bit". Hehe. That's a good time to stop. And if you DO end up having to have a cigarette, don't hate yourself for it. Even a doctor would tell you 1 cigarette vs. 20 a day is a GREAT improvement.

Congrats, keep it up.
