I have been vaping for 2 days now. I guess I have done something that shows my impatience. When I ordered my inexpensive box mod I also ordered some cartomizers and other things I would need. I had read around on the forum and seemed like everyone just loved that alien vision Gorilla juice and Boba's bounty. I had order my hardware from smoktek and I will say they have great customer service and seems like good prices. Well I order both of those as I felt how could I go wrong with everyone giving such great ratings. It does have a good flavor, but I guess that is what is refereed to throat his is outrageous for me. I mean my throat would be raw the next day. I had ordered some atomizers to just test some juice. I thought I would try doing that. I broke out an atomizer and put some of Heathers Heavenly Vapes Gandalf in the atomizer and man, this stuff is heaven to me. Taste great, the throat his is completely doable for me. I can see doing this all day. Like I said the Gorilla Juice and the Flue cured taste great but make my throat raw. Now finally to my question. Since I have used the Gandalf on this particular atomizer to find that I love it. Now, If I want to try another mixture to see how it taste, I guess I need to get the remenats of the Gandalf off this atomizer so I can get a true taste of something else. What is the best way to clean it? Just put it in some hot water and let it dry?

Thanks in advance for the info

Just vape through the flavor change; I do it all day with heavy VG juices. Boba's, Blend 4, IKV RY4 Gold, Copper Creek House Blend, and a few others. I don't care for cartos and drip exclusive of other methods. If a carto doesn't stay wet enough (poor wicking because VG's so much thicker) it can't hit yer throat rather harshly. I have some Gandalf on it's way and will drip it right out of the mailbox.

That is interesting. I was trying the alien juices in a carto, just got the atomizers in today so I just put some Gandalf on one. I will try the alien juice on an atomizer. If that carto was making that juice that harsh that will be a great discovery. They were the cartos that come 5 in a pack. Not high end cartos. Hope that is the answer. Thanks

THey are 3 ohm and vaping around 3.7. Just tried the alien on the atomizer and it is much better, not nearly as harsh. I guess it was the cartomizer, maybe the wicking or the material the wicking is made of. The harshness of it now is gone. THis is much better. I wonder if those ego clearomizers are better than the ones I have. These just have like cotton around the tube with a small hole going through the center.

My advice is to blow out any excess juice, soak the atomizer in PGA or vodka for 30 minutes or so. Blow out the excess alcohol and do a few dry burns on a battery. This should effectively remove any of the old flavors left on your atomizer. For really stubborn flavors like cinnamon, I boil my attys in water several times, allow them to dry and vape away...

that doesn't sound like a good ohm/volt ration imo...
if you're vaping 3.7v i'd recommend a low resistance carto/atty

iamtumus is correct. I use 3.0 ohm stuff around 5 volts. "standard" for 3.7 volts is around 2.0 - 2.5 ohms. Some go down to 1.5 or 1.7 but 1.5 is too hot at 3.7 IMO.

What is probably happening is that the juice is not vaporized well, and the "drops/mist" is not right. Giving you a harsh hit and sore throat. Could also be a wicking issue. But if you're sure it is a 3.0 ohm carto... that's probably the cause.... poor vaporization.

I'll also mention that:
1) There is a learning curve to this stuff... don't kick yourself. We all went through it.
2) Some juices are mixed fresh and have to steep. Try shaking the bottle real well and letting it set a few minutes. Shake, set, shake, set....

TH is also greatly a function of nic level. So are all the juices the same nic strength?
