So I have been into cartos lately, but my experience varies. Sometimes I feel they get gummed up and other times I feel like the juice just falls through the bottom. My slow acting brain has lead me to believe its all in the juice. Its something ive never worried about before in 801 mods because if it falls through, the reservoir gets it. If its too thick, I just blow it out.

So now my question,

Which juice works best with cartos?
My best answer is 80PG/20VG clearish juice. The mix seems firm enough to stay in the carto, but slick enough to go to the bottom when im filling it up. The "clearish" is because anything filled with a dark juice is just asking to be gummed up.

Your thoughts would be most helpful.

Thanks!

Not sure if you are mixing your own or buying your juice ready-to-vape. I mix my own so have a lot of control over the consistency.

Not all cartos are created equal, but for the ones I use (axial coil type) they like a slightly thicker juice a lot. I found an 80/20 PG/VG mix using pure VG unthinned has a good consistency. I've since gone to a high VG mix and use 40/60 PG/VG with the pure VG thinned ~15% with Everclear 151. The consistency is close to that of my previous mix and it works very well in my cartos. No leaking issues.

I have occasional issues with cartos clogging. Some juices will clog them faster. Since it's DIY for me, the difference lies in the flavor concentrate. I have better luck with concentrates (and thereby juices) that are more clear. One thing I noticed, when I drip into them to fill, they clog faster than when I force fill them with a syringe (I use both methods). I think the syringe does a flushing action that keeps them free flowing longer.

I was reminded today that one MUST flood the atty on a new carto. Do that, then suck out the excess juice with a syringe.
