Question on new batts and buffing PV

I've ordered several AW IMR 18650s and 18490/500 for my Provari and Silver Bullet, question is, I don't plan I using them all right away. I intend to keep some stored away as backups. Should I leave them like they arrived without charging them, or should I charge them up all the way and then store them in my battery boxes? I use both a TR-001 and have a Pila charger on the way if that makes any difference.

Anyway, loving the Provari! Hope the black satin finish stays looking nice! My poor red silver bullet has a few minor scuffs that just drive me CRAZY! Sometimes being OCD/Super .... is a pain in my ....! Anyway, ever try buffing out one of the colored Silver Bullets? Is it just a powder coating? Wouldn't mind trying to get rip of the small scratches if I could figure out how.

Store lithium batteries at 80% of full charge. Do NOT store them drained.
That doesn't mean 80% of their charged voltage.
There are charts somewhere of the voltage a battery is at when it's still got a certain % of it's charge left.
Sorry, but I don't know where it is or I'd link to it.
Or, you could just wing it. Use one and find out how long it takes to drain. Recharge it and use it for 20% of that time. You'll be close enough probably. Just don't store them all the way full or drained.

The SB is powder coated. You should be able to buff it out o.k.. Just take it slow and not too aggressive.

Coupla' other things about lithiums. Lithiums start to deteriorate the day they're manufactured. After 2 years, they have significant degradation whether they've been used or not. For long term storage, more than a couple months, store them in the freezer. You should top them off and drain them back down to 80% every 3 months or so. They have a slow self-discharge rate, but they do discharge. Keeping them cold slows them down.
