Question on Tanks

I've been using the Riva with 510 cart's. I'm upgrading to the Provari and I'm really confused on what a "tank" does. Does a tank need to be used with the Provari or can a cartomizer be used alone? Can someone please explain to me how the tank is beneficial with the cart's? I also don't understand the "hole punching" aspect either.

Any help would be great!

You can use a cartomizer (“carto”) by itself by just putting a drip tip in the top or it can be used inside of a carto tank.

The liquid in a carto is held in batting/filler material, wrapped around a heat coil. In a carto tank the carto has a hole/holes/slots punched into it allowing the liquid to be wicked into the batting/filler where it comes in contact with the heat coil and produces vapor.

Usually you're topping off a carto every hour or two, correct? You put holes in a carto and put a carto in a tank so that it'll slowly self-refill while you vape.

There are also other device referred to as "tanks," such as Vivi Novas and Protanks, which are tanks in the sense that they hold liquid, but they don't have a cartomizer inside.

Carto Tank = Carto but "expanded out" to hold 3 ml of juice (or whatever size) so you don't have to refill.

Someday, somebody will wise up and just make the dang carto plastic wider to begin with. Plastic molds/forms you know. They kinda do that with CE5's and such..but that's no-filler and wicking and such...a clearo, not a carto.

With a few exceptions, you can use anything with a 510 connection on the provari, cartos-cartotanks-attys etc

I have a Provari Mini and I love my Ibtanks on all of my PV's. Don't have to worry about juice cracking with glass.
