Why is everyone trying to lower their Nic level on their e-juice?

I'm still a newbie--vaped for 3 months still smoking 3 to 5 analogs per day but have been analog free for 21 days now. I'm trying to learn as much as possible about this activity because I tried everything to quit over the course of more than 40 years. Nothing worked--long term--and the jury is still out on wether this vaping thing is going to work for me long-term--but so far it has. I feel confident.

I understand dripping might require less nic content but thats a delivery system thing.

I read a lot of posts on here about people almost bragging about lowering their nic content--my question is why?

hi kkahmann. For me, and my dinosaur old age of 55, I simply know nicotine is a highly addictive substance. I figure if I can control my nic level by lowering it I am better off health wise. My advice would be to not be in too much of a hurry, 21 days without an analog is awesome. Congrats! The better the delivery system, the more efficient the nicotine gets into you. Good luck in your vape journey.

I think that some people want to wean themselves off nicotine because it is an addiction of sorts.

There is much controversy on how addicting nicotine actually is because most of the studies were done using tobacco which contains many other chemical compounds that are released during combustion. Tobacco companies also add other chemicals to their products for various reasons.

I, personally, don't care if I cut my nicotine down. I think doing so might cause a relapse back to smoking.

I started on 18mg/ml, went to 24. I still use 24 in tanks but 18 in my dripper. I don't sub ohm in my dripper.

When I first started, I wasn't concerned with lowering my nicotine level. My goal was to get off cigarettes, I don't care about the nicotine. As I've continued vaping, I've found that I want a larger hit from my e-cig, and with larger hits, higher nicotine levels can be intense. For instance, the first really good hit I got from a mechanical mod was with 18mg liquid and it was like the first time I ever smoked a cigarette only more so! So, I started using lower nicotine levels. Then I realized that I was still vaping just as much, if not a little less than I was before. So, I'm going to continue tapering off, very very slowly. Maybe one day I won't be addicted to nicotine at all.

I dropped so I could continue to vape as much as I liked.
More efficient devices will vaporize more juice and deliver more nicotine per "puff".
I like to puff , if I'm awake.

I started at 18 I think, (almost a year now of vaping) And now I'm at 6mg, I'm happy at where I am. I do not smoke ciggs anymore. I may chain vaper now, but I blame that on the flavor I vape. But I see it as long as I'm not smoking I am better off. I have had a physical with my Dr a month ago, and My cholesterol is down, my blood pressure is down, and the anxiety attacks are very few and far inbetween now...

Do what works for you....

I'm with Izan - lowering the nic level means you can vape your face off without overdoing it. A nicotine overdose isn't the end of the world, but it will make you feel really weird and uncomfortable for several minutes. I knew when I first started vaping that I was going to want to do it A LOT, just to get the hang of it and help stave off cravings for cigarettes. So I started vaping at 12mg, even though most people seemed to start much higher.

I started at 24mg 3.5 years ago, and quickly went to 18mg as I was getting too much for my vaping style. I love the flavors and action so much that I am now at a comfortable 12mg (1.2%) which is perfect for my vaping style. You just have to find what is comfortable for you, much like some people determine their own levels of caffeine. Some people do actually want to get recreational nicotine out of their lives, which is fine, so that's probably what you're seeing is those that are reducing their use of it. YMMV

Here is a useful link on Nicotine Myths though, as regards to actual (or perceived) health issues:
Nicotine Propaganda

Hope this helps! :)
