I've been reading up on Kate's posts for newbies (excellent, I might add). However it's late, I'm math challenged and I can't translate what she's saying in terms that would relate to me and I've read so much in so many places I can't keep it all straight.

I am (more often than not) a 2 ppd smoker-full flavor. My goal with e-cigs is not to continue my nicotine intake at that pace, but assume I do so I can figure out the absolute most I'd be consuming.

With a DSE901 and 36mg e-liquid (an ordering mistake, but what the heck). I do know that this means 36mg per ml and an average cigarette is about 1mg nicotine.

1. How much liquid will the 901 cart hold?

2. How often will I have to fill the cart per day to meet the equivalent of 20 cigs per day?

3. In all of your experiences, how does a higher dosage of nicotine affect how MUCH you vape? ie: can I achieve the same result with less vaping?

4. In your experience, does the higher nicotine dose just raise your tolerance?

5. Do these questions make sense, or do I just need to go to bed? :D

Thanks so much!

The questions are understandable, but mostly misguided cuz you can't yet differentiate between vaping and smoking.

Please be prepared to cut the 36mg. Most folks should not start with juice that high strength IMO. Get yourself some Propylene Glycol and a smallish bottle to make a mix in. Some pharmacies will have PG in stock. Walgreens will usually order it when asked. It makes me nervous every time newbies post about getting 36mg! You don't know yet if you'll need even half that strength, or can tolerate it comfortably

The big thing you need to do when you start is just hit a low or medium cart, see what happens. Vaping is different than smoking. Repeat that 10 times. ;) You're trying to figure out in advance how to mimic what you think you get from smoking but it doesn't work that way - seriously.

You can do all these calculations and fill your first cart with the resulting "proper" amount and still end up a jittering, high-blood pressured, nauseous wreck with a migraine. Or tossing the ecig away in disgust because it "just doesn't do anything for me."

You don't know yet how much of your habit holdover will be nicotine and how much will be the act of smoking, or if you'll wanna be holding it in your hand a lot or not, or sucking on it a lot or not. You don't know yet how you will react to nicotine that's missing all the cigarette additives that minimize and modify its effects.

I know that doesn't seem helpful but I think (hope) that after a while you'll understand why it makes sense. ;)

I think the 901 carts hold about .7ml but don't quote me.

Hi Jamie,
Oh no, your advice is extremely helpful and I really appreciate it :) I know, I'm anticipating in advance and have no idea what I'm anticipating but I will take all advice and suggestions to heart.

Also, I was incorrect in what I ordered...LOL, I ordered 24mg-not 36, but meant to order 18. Still high I know. I've seen a lot of posts about cutting it, as you have suggested, but what about getting a lower dosage in the same flavor and mixing them? Would that work?

...

Does anyone actually smoke the 36mg without cutting it? I was a 2+ pack a day smoker, and the 18 is more then enough for me.

Yes...I smoked about 3 packs a day and if I vape less than 36mg I still crave analogs. I just have to vape more when I want flavors that don't come in 36mg strength and I add a drop or two of the 36mg to keep away from the "stinkies".

bmacva...yes, that would work. Just add up the total mg and divide by 2 to get your mg for the mix.

I purchase 18mg and 36mg VG unflavored. I plan to mix the 36mg 50/50 with Vegetable Glycerine and then add my flavor, thus giving me 18mg flavored. I believe you're going to want to cut your 24mg. I'm not usually math challenged, but would prefer is someone more experienced checked my numbers. To get 24 to 18, I believe you would need 3ml of 24mg mixed with 1ml of of 0mg should give you 4ml of 18mg. Is this right?
