I recently picked up a Kick 2 by Evolv, and i really like it. I've been using it almost exclusively everyday in my sigelei #24. I have a couple of questions about it though...

First, is it supposed to make a really soft repetitive clicking sound? I have even noticed it making the sound after having removed the battery.

Second - has anyone else been jolted by their Kick 2? The first time it happened I thought it must be my imagination, but then it happened again last night. I'm not real fond of having electricity go through any part of my body, so now I'm really nervous every time I have to change the battery out. It seems to happen when I'm screwing the bottom cap back onto my mod. I'm thinking it has something to do with the fact that the cap isn't completely seated while it is being tightened down. If that isn't it, I don't know, but I don't like being shocked! lol I had to change the battery out about an hour ago, and instead of taking the bottom cap off I unscrewed the telescopic portion, put the battery in and screwed the two halves back together. I didn't get shocked that time either. Why would this be happening?

Also, this might be a stupid question, but is it enough current to be potentially harmful? I understand basic things about electricity and electronics, but not enough to be able to answer that question. I know that my battery is 1100mah, and is rated 10C, so it has the capability to release quite a bit of energy. I'm leaning towards it being just a harmless jolt, because regardless of the voltage involved, a current in excess of 10 amps is potentially deadly isn't it? Seems like I've heard through the years that a current as low as 1 amp can kill a person under the right circumstances.

I usually vape at 3.8 volts with a resistance of about 1 ohm that's about 14.4w which gives me a 3.8amp battery draw.

Is it lethal if I took that in directly? No not as long as it was only for a second, but it would hurt like hell. If you're feeling minor jolts I'd start looking at the mod the juice delivery system and the kick itself anything, and I mean anything that is shocking you no matter how minor I would investigate immediately, if it happens again just stop using it.

This is a shocking development! Lol sorry I couldn't resist. Mine makes no noise, I read some where that the clicking might indicate the battery has reached its discharge state, however that makes no sense in your situation. Is all the clear shrink wrap still intact without any tears or a hole that could be causing a dead short?

lol - Yes, everything is intact. It isn't like you would hear it even if it is sitting one foot away from you on your desk, but if you hold it up to your ear there is a very rapid ticking sound. I wouldn't have noticed it at all if it hadn't kept ticking when I took it out of my mod one day. Seems like once the residual current is exhausted it quits. Idk - maybe it's one of those things that I'm just not meant to understand, only to accept.

Can't speak to the other issues brought up, but the clicking sound is normal. I emailed Evolv about that when I noticed it occurring in my Silver Bullet and got the following response:

The clicking is normal in a top button mod. In a top button mod, the Kick2 is always on and checking 50 times per second (sleep mode) for a button press. It uses very little power from the battery. The Kick2 is a completely different topology from the original Kick, hence the difference.

Thanks,
Brandon

Okay, good to know and thanks very much for sharing that with me!

I heard Phil Busardo mention that it will click when the battery needs changed, but I couldn't find mention anywhere of the constant clicking. Now I know for certain that there isn't anything wrong with my Kick 2. :)
