Looking at a resistance calculator, 1.8 ohm on a 3.7 volt IMR battery will yield the following: current 2.055 Amp / power 7.60 Watt.
Being the Kick (ST) is adjustable between 5-12 Watt, what would be the best Watt setting in your opinion. I guess if you want a similar impact of what the MOD is doing without a kick, you would need to set the Kick at at least 7 watt, up two clicks from the Kicks lowest setting of 5W. To draw a bit more power from the batteries, set up a few more clicks and go to 9-10W. What do you think a desirable setting would be for the Kick using 1.8 resistance?

Next question: Using an rba dual coil, both coils wrapped to 1.8 ohm, on the ohm meter you should be at .90. How does this impact the performance of a Kick? Is it even okay to use a kick with RBA's? I have a Kick on order and I don't want to screw the thing up right out of the box.

Thanks for any advice.

Just start at 7 watts and adjust to taste as necessary.

I haven't tried any thing below 1.4 ohms with my ST Kick but according to what I have heard from others it won't fire anything below 1.2 ohms.

I only use RBA's and RDA's and mostly with regulated MOD's, you just can't do sub ohm with most regulated MOD's or a ST Kick. I think the Evolve Kick 2 can do sub ohm down to .8 ohms but I'm not certain.

Edit: The Kick 2 will work down to .5 ohms.

There are no 'click settings' on the Kick 1

You don't have to set it at exactly 7 or 8 or 9, watts etc.

If you want to power your coil with 3.7v, then set the potentiometer on the Kick so you see 3.7v on a multimeter when pressing the button on your mod.

If in fact your coil is exactly 1.8 ohms, then the coil will get 7.6 watts if the output on your Kick is set to show 3.7v on a multimeter.

I'm thinking I would probably be better off when using an RBA and a Kick, going with a single coil setup as opposed to going dual coil. Assuming my thinking is correct, if I wanted to do dual coil, I would have to wrap each coil to 3.6 to be at 1.8 on the ohm meter. I'm not sure if I want to do that, wrap to 3.6. I guess if I wanted to drip less and get more wick in the RBA, dual coil will give you that, but is it putting out any more heat than a single 1.8? I have been vaping pretty much on cartos and carto/tanks for the past few years, so I am very new when in comes to wrapping coils and using a Kick. Right now in my RBA (IGO-W) I have 32g wire on ecowool, both out about 1.8. On the meter, the build yields a .90, too weak to go with a Kick on the battery. I may try to go about 2.5 single coil and when I get the Kick, and go about 8-9 watt. 1.8 ohm on 8-9 watt may be a little on the hot side?

My first try when using a Kick was a fail. Or the Kick itself was a fail. I sent it back and getting a replacement free. It worked for about 30 seconds then nothing. I had sanded the inside of my extension piece to make sure the Kick was fitting in there right and the ground peg was hitting metal, but still no power. I think it was the Kick itself and not my doing somehow. I should have the new Kick within a day or two.

I don't think the Kick will work with a coil below about 1.4 ohms

Stick to a single coil in the 1.6 - 1.8 ohm range ... I don't think you will have any problems.

I use the 3/32 drill bit now, but only used the 30 and 32 gauge Kanthal. I have some 28G as well but haven't wrapped with it yet. I will give that build a try soon, 10 wraps with the 28, all touching. Right now with the 30 and 32 I just try to get the coils evenly spaced. I also have coming in soon a Panasonic 18650 NCR 3400. That will be the battery I will be using probably most of the time with the Kick. I have two extension pieces for the Bolt Mod, so the Kick will work on that 18650. I am also looking forward to trying an 18350 in the Bolt (no extension pieces) using the Kick. That will be for more stealth vaping when I am at work. I hope I don't have any problems with the new Kick when it comes in...I like the idea of being able to go variable wattage if needed.
