get a multimeter. if you're rebuilding, you should have one anyways. they're not very expensive (think you can get basic models from radio shack or fry's for around $10-20).

if you want to know the resistance before you buy, check the specs on temco. they manufacture almost every type of resistance wire you could think of (but unfortunately nothing as thin as bakero wire...).

better places like temco industrial supply have a chart showing equivalent thicknesses for ribbon VS round. its not exact but i found it's pretty close and helps with the conversion of how many wraps of my old round to how many of the new ribbon.

I like the ribbon but not in everything, in drippers its awesome - seems to heat faster and stay clean longer, and dry burns quicker with less damage to the wick.
