Questions on RIBBON WIRE for rebuilding atty's

I am pretty new to dripping, and recently started making my own coils using 30 guage kanthal and 2mm silica wick. I was just talking to some buddies and they brought up ribbon wire. I started looking it up and it seems something I want to try, but how do you tell the resistance on the thickness of these ribbons?

get a multimeter. if you're rebuilding, you should have one anyways. they're not very expensive (think you can get basic models from radio shack or fry's for around $10-20).

if you want to know the resistance before you buy, check the specs on temco. they manufacture almost every type of resistance wire you could think of (but unfortunately nothing as thin as bakero wire...).

better places like temco industrial supply have a chart showing equivalent thicknesses for ribbon VS round. its not exact but i found it's pretty close and helps with the conversion of how many wraps of my old round to how many of the new ribbon.

I like the ribbon but not in everything, in drippers its awesome - seems to heat faster and stay clean longer, and dry burns quicker with less damage to the wick.

.5 ribbon kanthal is equivalent to 30 awg
.8 ribbon kanthal is equivalent to 28awg
performs much better- more suface area= more vapor production, smoother throat hit, more flavor

with the .8 ribbon kanthal dual coil 4 loops, I'm getting .5 ohms on my Trident RDA

Did a dual coil 2/3 wrap on a single braid of 3mm Eckowool using .8 x .1 annealed A-1 ribbon wire getting .3 ohms. It's not burning my juice and producing nice vapor and good flavor. I may try a 3/4 wrap next time to get .5-.6 ohms.
