First off it has been a while since I've posted and I apologize if this in the wrong section...

I recently upgraded from my iTaste VV V3 to an iTaste MPV and so far I absolutely love it, especially the battery life! While I was at it, I figured I mine as well upgrade from my PT2 mini's to the PT3 which so far I have been very pleased with.

I have been in the habit of rebuilding my PT2 coils using cotton as the wick (which solved all of the issues I was having ie: flooding, gurgling, dry hits, etc) and I've never had to buy replacement coils. Now with the PT3 and the unavailability of rebuilding the coils as an option (at least that I know of), I now need to get replacements. Today I went to my local store and got a 5 pack of replacements.

Upon getting home and opening the package, I realized that these new coils are slightly different than the ones I currently have (the ones that came with the PT3). I noticed for one, that you cannot see the silica wick on the side and instead there are two holes. Not that big of a deal as the juice still has access to the coil (yet I wonder if this design is limiting that amount to any degree). Secondly, I noticed that the silicone cap that goes over the chimney (no idea what this piece is actually called) is missing.

Left side is the original coil I have compared to the new ones on the right

I see that the new coils have a silicone piece between the chimney and the base and, I cannot remove the chimney like I can with the old ones. My question is (sorry for babbling) do I need to transfer this silicone piece from the old coil to the new coil to prevent leaking or, is that what the existing silicone piece between the chimney and base is for?

I hope that this makes sense as I've never been good at articulating myself lol. Thanks in advance!

I don't believe you need to add any extra cap to the new coils to prevent leaking.

On a side note, I've had no problems using PT2 coils in my PT3 with a kanger airflow control base v1. Worth the five dollars :)

It may also be possible to use PT2 coils on the stock PT3 base, but I haven't tried it.

The coils should be inter-changeable. I have both the enclosed coils and the ones with the wick showing and they both work the same straight from the packet.
The new 'upgraded' enclosed coils are Kangers way of making rebuilding them as difficult as possible. My enclosed coils generally give around 2 weeks of use with light e-liquid.
