I'm having a problem with 2 Pass-thru's that only work on the computer and not on any of my USB A.C. or cigarette lighter adapters. They are all rated at 1000ma. The LED will light and do some blinking but it won't heat the cartridge. I can't find the normal rating of a computer USB port but I did find that good USB hubs only have about a 500ma rating.

Is anyone else having this problem? If not, I'd like to know what is your adapter rating and where did you get it.

This is very disappointing to me as I anticipated doing about 90% of my vaping using the pass-thru. The batteries just aren't satisfying me.

BLOOG has far exceeded my expectations with their customer support so far except with this problem. I've sent them 3 emails now and they just seem to be ignoring them.

Seems to be a voltage problem I am not sure exactly what the problem is without knowing the specs of what you are plugging it into...have you tried plugging it into the wall adapter and plugging into a wall outlet?

Yes. that is what I'm talking about. Won't work with the wall adapter that came with the charger or one that I purchased separately or the two cigarette lighter adapters. They are all 5VDC outputs which is the standard for USB. Thats why I'm confused and the only thing I think it could possibly be is either the current draw is greater than 1000ma, which seems unlikely to me, or I have two defective pass-thru's. Works great on the computer though

I would suggest getting a portable usb battery that will last you hours like this one http://3466.voxcdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/000-0022.jpg?host=vox...it just sounds like a voltage issue ...if it works connected to your PC it is functional...these kind of batteries should work as well

Are you using a hub that has it's own power source or one that just plugs into your computer and gives you more USB outlets?

I have one that has it's own power source and I use it exclusively for my e-cigs. I don't even have it connected to my computer and it works great.

Not using a Hub but I was interested in whether that would work.
Might come in handy.
Curious, if it's not too much trouble for you, to read the voltage tag for the ma rating. Tag should show output: 5VDC xxxxma.

Thanks

If it's suppose to work on a standard USB port and it doesn't, then it is not fully functional. If I invest in an expensive battery and it doesn't work, will BLOOG reimburse me for the battery and get me a working pass-thru.

Why can't BLOOG at least get the specs from the manufacturer so we know what is required to make it work and if it doesn't work when the requirements are met we will know the pass-thru is defective

Have you tried it with the wall outlet that comes with the charger?

I thought you said it was working fine with your usb port on your PC?

Forget it. Sorry my problem is too much for you to handle. All I wanted was the electrical specs and to know if anyone else has the problem or not. Thanks for the brush off

Wow geez chill out ... It has been after hours and I do not have that info on hand I have been trying my best to figure out if it is how you are using it and exactly what your problem has been...you clearly said it was working fine with your computer...you never said anything about it not being a standard USB port.

I will post the info as soon as I can

Sorry I'm tired too but I re-read my posts and don't know how I could be much clearer.

All I expected from you is:
1. I will try one with the wall adapter that comes with the charger.
2. First chance tomorrow I will contact the manufacturer and find out what the the problem might be and what needs to be done to fix it (like I asked in my emails). The electrical specs will most likely have the answer.

All USB ports, whether computer, wall adapters, or cigarette adapters, output 5 volts DC. on two specific wires. That IS the USB standard. So it is NOT a voltage problem. What is variable though is the maximum amount of current amperage(ma) the computer/adapter can deliver and there is no standard for that. It needs to be sufficient for the using device and that's why the specs are important. The 1000ma adapters I have are normally quite ample for any common USB device.

Will check back tomorrow.

I have a usb hub that has it's own power source
--- powered hub ---
I use it exclusively for my usb e-cigs.
It is totally separate and not connected to my computer
and it works great.

Some of the car adapters and usb plug thingies
do not put out what they are supposed to,
the sellers overrate them in the advertising,
best to get only the ones that members on here
have bought and they say work well.

Incorrect. A perfect computer USB port will supply 5v/500mA of power, but many do not. It is true that USB devices will output varing amounts of current depending upon their intended use, but higher current (mA) outputs, in my experience, enhance the vaping experience.

That's why I started thread to see if anyone has been successful with this particular pass-thru on various adapters and what they are using.
I want to be able to use it in the car and also don't want to be carrying a HUB around from room to room. A battery pack like BLOOG recommended might be the answer but I also haven't seen anywhere that someone is actually successful using one of them with this type of pass-thru.

The electrical specs would help eliminate a lot of the guess work. I don't know what the big problem is getting the specs and I'm not even sure if it's legal to sell them in the US without providing them. Even my little cigarette lighter adapters have a sticker on them. This would also be a help to BLOOG in eliminating customer complaints when there is nothing wrong with the pass-thru but actually with the adapter or battery pack being insufficient.

Perhaps I should repost this thread in a different forum to get more attention. Maybe the Tech forim.

Thanks

For months I have been experimenting with various types of usb devices and adapters. Here's what I found out:
* if the pass-thru works with the computer or powered hub then the pass-thru is not defective
* the usb adapter that comes with the chargers (tested a couple) do not send enough power to the pass-thru inspite of their ratings that say they output 5v

I'm probably not saying this correctly but the usb adapters that I have taken apart seem to have a voltage protection so it stops the power when it senses a particular resistance (or something). You can't use anything that is marketed as a 'charger' or 'charging adapter', it has to be a true power source.
Does that make sense? IMHO I don't think the pass-thru is the issue but the type of usb adapter you are trying to plug it into. Believe me I know your frustration.
PS: I use a Kensington ultra portable battery pack that I got at Best Buy, if that helps.

Don't want to turn this into a technical debate but:

A properly operating USB port standard is +5 VDC, plus or minus 5%. I've tried it on 4 different adapters. The rest of your post is incorrect or very poorly worded and confusing. .
Also a device that exceeds its own current rating or that of it's power supply will result in burning things up like atomizers, circuit chips, and wires. etc. Thats why power supplies have fuses and breakers.

Again I don't wish to get in a technical debate. I just want to know two things. What are the electrical specs of the pass-thru and has anyone been succcessful using these pass-thrus on an adapter and/or battery pack.

Thanks

Thanks luvmyvapor. I think your the first to answer one of my questions. Can I assume you are using the BLOOG pass-thru with that battery pack.

Again, although the 5VDC rating is important (standard) it's the max current(ma) rating that needs to be checked. Yes I can believe there is a protective device inside the adpter to prevent it from exceeding its max and burning itself up or worse.
The specs of the device are important for a long list of reasons especially if it doesn't have it's own overload protection.
