Hi all, I am a new member to this forum :D

Although I am aware of the many resources available to newbies, I thought I would go ahead and write a condensed guide with my personal perspective.

This guide is by no means a complete guide for newbies. Rather, I have only included the bare minimum amount of information needed for a newbie vapor to have a solid start with e-cigarettes.

Thanks for reading, and I hope you find this post at least somewhat useful.

Which E-cigarette should I buy first, and what do I need to buy?

When deciding which e-cigarette to buy first, you have two main options.
The first is to buy a private label e-cigarette from a company who asks you to buy its flavor cartridges to continue to fuel the e-cigarette. There are countless companies offering this option. Most of these businesses sell “starter kits” which include, but are not limited to:

One or more:
Batteries
Atomizers
Chargers
Cartridges

I do not recommend this option, as many of the private brands of e-cigarettes are not compatible with other brands, and should you wish to change later to a generic e-cigarette or starter kit, you will have to spend more money.

The second is to buy a “generic” e-cigarette or e-cigarette starter kit. This comes with items similar to a private label starter kit. Out of the many hours I have spent researching this, I highly recommend buying a manual “Joye Ego” starter kit.

The Joye Ego offers a long battery life (5-6 hours of continuous, or chain, vaping), great vapor production, and is of a high quality. A manual e-cigarette is generally recommended on these forums, as you can adjust the amount of time you press the power button to control the amount of vapor you receive. However, an automatic e-cigarette would be preferred if you desire hands-free operation of the device.

As it is quite popular, you will have many options for upgrading the various bits and pieces of this e-cigarette in the future.

Along with the starter kit, buy somewhere around 30ml of “e-liquid”, and any amount of empty cartridges for your type of e-cigarette (5-15 cartridges if you are not sure). It is best to buy an assortment of flavors in 5ml sizes, allowing you to try various flavors and have a better idea of what you like vaping.

What do I do when I receive my equipment?

First, charge your battery to full charge.

Then, find your atomizer and blow it out into a tissue/napkin, blowing into the side with the larger hole. This is to get rid of as much of the “primer juice” the manufacturer puts into the atomizer, which many people find unfavorable to vaporize.

Afterwards, drip two drops of e-liquid onto the atomizer, into the side with the larger hole.

Screw your atomizer into your fully charged battery.

Now, remove the “condom” tip from one of your empty cartridges, and drip one of your e-liquid flavors into it. Drip somewhere around 13 drops to saturate the cartridge. If some e-liquid pools at the top of the cartridge, dab it with a napkin to remove the extra liquid.

Place your newly filled cartridge into the open end of the atomizer.

Press the power button on the e-cigarette’s battery, wrap your mouth around the cartridge, and slowly draw the air into your mouth for 3-5 seconds. Inhale the vapor, and then exhale.

Congratulations! You have just taken your first puff of an e-cigarette.

Again, thanks for reading. If you have any further questions, I would be happy to answer them here.

Enjoy your day!

Hi Smarto!! While I applaud your attempt to help newcomers to the world of e-cigs, your guide is rather vague, confusing and seems to promote only 1 type of e-cig.

What do you mean by private label e-cig? What are the models of private label e-cigs that newbies should avoid. The Joye Ego is a private labeled e-cig made by JoyeTech.

What are the generic models that newbies should buy?

As far as "starter kits" most people recommend to make sure you get at least 2 sets of batts, 2 atties, 10 carts and a charger or on some models a passthrough. Not just one or more.

I, personally, don't think 30ml of juice is enough. Especially for a beginner. There is a learning curve when filling - there may be over- fillings, juice left in the cart material etc. You figure most people vape around 15ml of juice a week, 30ml is 2 weeks worth of juice. Then there is down time when you have to order more juice.

Hands-free operation of an e-cig is misleading. A manual e-cig utilizes a "button", to activate heating of the coil in an atomizer. Automatic means there is no button to push, but it's not hands-free.

The Joye Ego is not the only e-cig out there for newbies. There's the KR808, Titan, Riva, DSE901, Regular 510, Tornado, and so on.

There is a reason why there is a "stickied" section to the New Members forum. It answers almost all the questions and concerns a newbie might have regarding e-cigs. It is encouraged that newbies research and read, read, read.

DonDaBoomVape has an excellent tutorial in the ECF Library that is invaluable to newbies.
