Quick Intro and NPro Questions

Hello. Hope this post is appropriate for this category but I didn't see an NPro link. First time posting here so I'll give a short intro. I'm 25 and live in New Jersey, America. I've been smoking for five years. I usually smoke lights or full flavour nonmentholated cigarettes and prefer additive free, though I also enjoy Asos and George Karelias and Sons when I can get them. I'm a light smoker, four cigarettes in one day at the most and usually less. For me, it's not about the nicotine, which is probably why I can stop and start whenever. I enjoy the taste of good tobacco and smoking in general.

Anyway, I was curious about e-cigs so I bought an NPro, since I heard such good things about it. I've been totally blind since I was two-months-old, so the smoke did nothing for me but the taste was interesting. It took some getting used to. The trick was to think "this is not tobacco so it won't taste like it". So once I saw it as a new smoking experience I was fine. I only smoked it for maybe a week, using the 0-nicotine cartridges. Then, I forgot about it and got sick so didn't smoke anything for about a week and a half. When I returned to it, the taste was harsh and made my throat dry. This happened before but I was learning to live with it. But now, it was severe. It continued even after I changed the cartridge. I wasn't sure how long you can keep one open so I threw the old one out. Today, when I opened the ziplock bag where I keep the NPro, the cigarette and bag were wet so apparently, some of the sollution leaked out through the hole in the cartridge. I washed my hands but am unsure how to clean the cigarette or the atomiser with or without sighted assistance. Also, when I puff on it , it makes a buzzing sound like there's liquid in it, as if saliva got in there but I'm sure it's the sollution.

So how do I resolve these issues? Is that dry/harsh taste normal or is it dangerous to smoke it now? Should I buy a new atomiser? Thanks.

Hi Magkisa, welcome to the forum.

I found it difficult to vape at first because of the harshness, it really irritated my throat. It wasn't until I mixed my own eliquid that I started to enjoy it, glycerine takes away the irritation when mixed with commercial eliquid. Some commercial eliquids are harsher than others so try a few and see if you can find ones that suit you better. The prefilled cartridges are usually pretty awful.

Your Npro is an RN4081 super mini and they are thought to be adequate for light use.

Just wipe any leaks away with a tissue if you aren't using nicotine liquid. There should only be food grade ingredients in it.

The noise you are hearing might mean that your atomiser is flooded. Try blowing through it from the battery side onto a tissue to clear it and see if that helps.

Well, I did try the low nicotine for like two days, though didn't smoke it that much. Will that affect your answer i.e. can I still blow through the atomizer and just wipe the cig or do I need to do something else? I'm sorry for not mentioning it earlier but was tired and not thinking straight. Also, while eliquid sounds like a great idea, I doubt I could use it on my own cause I can't really measure drops and I'd imagine it would be difficult to fill such a small container like a cartridge without spilling the stuff all over the place. I guess, if it's wet enough or thick enough, I could feel what I'm doing but not sure.

Yes, you should still be able to blow through the atomiser to get rid of excess eliquid even if you used nicotine a while ago. It's just a matter of washing your hands and trying not to get any nicotine in your mouth.

I noticed on your other thread that you are thinking of getting a disposable atomiser/cartridge combo device, that's probably a good idea if you can't easily refill cartridges.

Leaford did a review of one here - http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...-cig-com-new-mini-ecig-video-review-demo.html

The Ruyan Jazz has just come on the market too, it's completely disposable. It costs around $20 to $25 I think and is claimed to equal four packs of cigarettes (not that I believe that without testing). Parked's review of the Jazz is here - http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...review-ruyan-jazz-disposable-e-cigarette.html

Let us know if there's anything we can help you with, this place has information all over the place and sometimes it can be hard to find.

Opa! I got it! I cleaned the cig with a paper towel, blew through the atomiser and it's fine now. So about the cartridges. If I open a low nicotine to try it, can I put the cap back on it and reuse it another time? Does it have any kind of expiration or "best used within" time once it's opened? And I'm still wondering how many puffs it would take to equal a cigarette so I don't take too much in. Sorry for the repeating but needed to fix the other stuff first.
