I just stumbled on this forum the day before yesterday, and have been soaking up all I could for the past twelve hours straight while vaping at the same time...
So I started smoking when I was around sixteen, and was a regular pack a day smoker by the time I was nineteen. (about ten years full time smoker ) Tried to quit numerous times with the longest streak lasting about two months. I always enjoyed the ritual of inhaling the cigarette itself, the social aspect, and obviously the effects the nicotine produced. About a year and a half ago I saw e-cigs at my local smoke shop. I purchased a disposable one, and was floored at how well it worked. I was so impressed I went back to buy a rechargeable and refillable one for about $70 at the time. It was a waste of money and time, and forgot about the whole e-cig concept for a while.
Three months ago, my daughters school had an auction, where I noticed a few people in the dinner hall all standing around smoking e-cigs. It sparked the thought back into my head, and I figured I would see how far along the technology had come since I last invested. At this time I had quit smoking, but was chewing tobacco regularly. I quit because my family recently moved to an area that gets very cold during the winter time, so it was a huge pain to go outside and smoke in the freezing weather. I was also sick of the smell, the lack of taste buds, my wife and kids complaining, my irritability when I didn't get my fix etc etc...

Anyways, I wanted an e-cig kit right away, and saw that they started carrying a few different brands at Walmart. I purchased the Mistic starter kit, and a large box of the high nicotine content refill cartridges. I was actually very happy with the product despite the not so great reviews posted on the net about them. The battery life was great, vapor was full and satisfied all of my cravings, and I was able to make the switch over to e-cigs only without any real cigarettes or chew on the side! I felt better than I ever had, and continue to feel great to this day. I have been clean of all real tobacco products for a little over two months now thanks to these amazing devices. I can sincerely say I have NEVER been so excited about a new product in my entire life.
Unfortunately the Mistic e-cigs did not come with a case, and I lost both of the batteries. Last week I decided to try the Fin brand. They produce stronger vapor and include a very convenient charging pack that fits in your pocket. I also did some research and learned how to refill the cartomizers ( not sure if that is the correct word ) with liquid I bought at a local vapor shop. Refilling the cartridges produces a much better flavor, and seems to provide a better nicotine fix. Now I save even more money by not having to purchase the refills!
I sincerely believe these e-cigs have saved my life. I have genetically very high blood pressure, and am sure if I continued to smoke throughout my life I would have suffered a heart attack, or stroke at some point in my life.

Sorry about the long winded post, I am just thrilled beyond words that I am free of harmful tobacco products with the aide of these little e-cigs.

Now my question is, what would you guys recommend for an upgrade that would be a cigarette sized device? I don't want to get into the fancy big pipe things, for one because I don't want my young kids getting the wrong idea, and for two I want the convenience of being able to have them in my pocket at all times just like I would my regular pack of cigs. The Fin setup I have is working great for now, but I know I will be using these things long term and would like to purchase an upgraded set in standard compact size.

Everyone here seems very knowledgeable, and just as enthusiastic about this HUGE new innovation as I am. I look forward to getting to know everyone here!

BTW, I have been clean from all chew and cigarettes since 3/14/13! I can't remember back to when I have been this healthy, and not winded every time I have to do anything that even required the least big of movement. I also have no desire or craving to go back to analogue smoking or chew. In fact, when I smell a real cigarette now it makes me sick, and I wonder how I could ever go around smelling like that. Don't even get me started about the chew, and all the spitters, fiber glass in your gums and nasty side effects and risks that come along with it.
Anyways, thanks and happy vapor trails!

Congrats on quitting smoking! I use an Ego style battery with a Vivi Nova tank. I will never go back to actual smoking or those gas station/store bought cheap E-Cigs !

650mAh eGo battery and matching color eVod. It is slightly larger than a regular cigarette but smaller than a cigar - about the size of a black n mild plastic tip thing. That is my number one recommendation to any new vapers - they are a complete no brainer to use, literally fill up and go, no leak, no dry hits, very consistent, small size, looks awesome, tons of vapor and flavor. I own many of those "big fancy pipe things" and i still use this setup regularly.

eGo 650mAh Battery - Stainless

Kanger eVod bottom coil clearomizer - Stainless

Congrats, Patsbox7, and welcome to Vapingworld and ECF! If you want to stay with pocket-friendly "cigalikes," I personally would recommend V2cigs (Electronic Cigarettes | V2 Cigs), good quality and excellent warranty on their batteries. I've been eyeing the products at Smokeless Image but have no experience with them. I strongly urge you to explore ecigs on the internet and order from reputable suppliers. The quality of most of what you'll find in stores (dedicated vape shops excluded) pales in comparison. If you can find brick and mortar vape shops in your area, by all means check them out!

Good luck!

Welcome Patsbox7! Glad you found ECF...and especially vaping! I second the motion for the Smokeless Image products. You can start out with a cig-a-like kit, and then graduate up to an "eGo" sized e-cig...then go on to the variable voltage type like the Twist mentioned here...all on ONE site. Juice and everything else you might want in the way of accessories, too! Smokeless Image | Only The Best Electronic Cigarette | Smokeless Image Electronic Cigarettes - The Future is in your hands I started out with them (along with V2 and Safe Cig) and did fine for over a year until I started experimenting with more advanced personal vaporizers.

Congrats on choosing the smarter alternative!

Ego twist or vision spinner *on a lanyard* with your choice of refillable tanks and a charger. Double this for backup purposes. My wife uses this combination, hasn't had a cigarette in over two months and has no desire to "upgrade" to anything else. I have since moved on to larger, shiny things ;)

Anyone have personal experience with the V2 setup? I have read about them before I found this forum, and saw nothing but stellar reviews on them.

Btw the brick and mortar location in my area only deals with those big custom setups like most of you guys have. I would totally go that route but my wife would flip a lid if I used it around the kids, and I want something that will fit in my pocket.
Those crazy setups sure do look cool though, and I am sure they smoke way better than the smaller ones

I started on V2 and still use them on occasion. My wife took them over when i went to vv. I think they are a very good cigalike product. good vapor and got me off cigs after 23 years of almost 2 packs a day. I'm sure those would have worked long term for me, but I am OCD and just had to try an "upgrade". Just refill the carts with your own juice. the carts from V2 are expensive.

Yep, thats what Im planning on doing ( re-filling the cartridges) I already do that with my Fin setup. How is the battery life on the V2s? The Fins are about 45-1hr, but they charge fast in the case, so by the time one is out the other one is ready to go.

Welcome to ECF!

I started with V2 ecigs and still use them when I go out. The warranty is lifetime on all their batteries, chargers, etc. They also send the replacement quickly (within a few days in my experience). All i did was call and tell the order number and they shipped me a new battery with a envelope to send back the battery that needed replacement.

OTOH, I recently started using bottom feeder mods and love the way they look/work. Maybe someday i will take my REO or Vmod out in public :)

Whatever you decide to vape with make sure to have backups and plenty of juice or prefilled carto's

I've been with V2 for 7 months and haven't had a problem with anything. They have good starter kits, 3 lengths and 4 colors of batteries (choice of manual or automatic), and, if you want to start by ordering flavored prefilled carts, they have a good selection of flavors. They also have a sample pack of 10 carts, one each of 10 flavors. Some of the flavors are also available as e-juice, and yes, it's much more economical to refill carts. From what I read on their forum, they are quite good about honoring their battery warranty without hassle.

I've only tried a couple of drugstore brands, and V2 wins hands down. OTOH, I'm also using a slightly larger eGo-C battery and Kanger ProTank setup, which works better with some juices but is too big to take out and about. I guess it's all about what works for you at different times and for different purposes.

Made the decision to go with a V2 setup. I am actually very happy with the cig type setup. Started off with Mistic, and am now using Fin. I will use the Fin setup I have as backup, keep in thr car etc, and the V2 will be my go 2 I'm sure. I scoured their entire site and picked out exactly what I needed and wanted. Thanks for all the suggestions and feedback!
