Hey all... just ordered a new GLV-2 Mini and I'm super psyched. I'm not new to the world of modding exactly, but for months I've just been using my provari. It's become much too cumbersome (especially with the extended endcap) and attention-grabbing to bring out in public so I'm looking forward to getting a smaller 3.7v device. Usually when I get a new mod, I find it easiest to just include batteries and a charger in the order to save myself time and perhaps a little money over purchasing separately... and I would never have the patience to order from China, even if most batteries are made there anyway. It says about the charger that it will not charge over-discharged batteries... and I have no idea what that means. I can kind of guess, but would someone kindly fill me in on what constitutes "over discharge"? My PV probably won't be here for a while but I'd love to know ahead of time so I don't mess things up the second I start using it.

Thanks!

I don't know to much about batteries but some chargers have a safety mechanism that won't overcharge your batteries as you have stated. Others do and this can cause problems since it can damage the batteries itself and might be unsafe to use.

Which means there's a possibility that it can explode. That's why some pv's have vent holes on the bottom just in case something does happen to the battery. BUT, this won't necessarily help because of the obvious.

Hopefully others will see this and give an informed answer to your dilemma.

Protected batts have PCB circuits to help prevent over charging and over discharging batts.
If you somehow manage to over discharge the batt anyways, the protection usually kills
the batt and prevents it from being recharged again. There are tricks to tricking the protection
on a batt to allow it to recharge. It usually requires a more sophisticated charger with more
controllable charge monitoring, and it can be dangerous as well.

That is why it is a good idea to have back up batts.

Yeah, Vpn, I did get two of them... I'm not particularly worried about it since it looks like the charger has an auto-cut off, I'm just definitely not super knowledgeable about this. I'm much more comfortable with my big red AW IMR 18650s, but what can you do. It was so much less hassle to just include the batteries with my GLV and they seemed to have a higher mAh rating than others the same size (even though mAh ratings can be off). Everyone seems to just love GLV as a company so I assume everything will be just fine.

I believe Jay sells only the AW cr123's with the GLV mod. Not only are the AW's the best batt around,
but they are more uniform in size, and he builds the GLV with pretty tight tolerances.
I have read where trustfies and ultrafires can be slightly off in size for what is supposed to be the
same batt. I know I have tried ultrafires ( that I got in a trade ) that would not fit unless I forced them.
