I got another purple package today and all the born on dates are 8-1-2014. Does that mean the liquid was "born" (mixed) on the first, or the bottling of said steeped liquid was "born" on the first? I couldn't really find the answer anywhere in some of the posts I googled.

That is the date it was bottled in your bottles. It has more of a steep on it than that but you can get more info on that by contacting Clark. ;)

The born on date printed on the bottles is the date the liquid was poured into your bottle.

Most of the Nicoticket liquids sit it clark's super secret reinforced underground bomb shelter/labratory guarded by cats and gnomes until the magic juice fairies grant them release

or just the first part

But the second part is infinitely more interesting!!

yeah... granted that is true...

but I really shouldnt have leaked that information on a public board....

now I really will get a bottle of Perkins Paste with my next order.
If you like hot anchovies as much as I do, then you'll do yourself a diservice by NOT putting PP in your next order!! At least thats what I taste, with tripe in the background.

Thanks for the replies guys. I thought it was the bottling date after seeing the times on the web site under the flavors. I just wanted to be sure and not spread misinformation if I ever get asked.

Dont get me wrong.. the tripe anchovy combo is always a winner in my book... only thing is that the last couple orders the anchoy was tasting almost flash frozen then re-heated.... think clark is starting to skimp on the fresh ingredients...

In the case of the SR's, the mix-date on the website is the date that applies.

In the case of the permanent flavors, the amount of pre-steeping varies over time (depends on demand) - but as a general rule we try to ensure all of the liquid is pre-steeped *at least* 2 weeks. In some cases, if you are lucky to hit the end of a water-shed, you can get liquid that's been steeping 6 weeks or longer. If there are any specific questions on an individual bottle, we track batch/lot numbers internally so we can tell you the actual mix date of any liquid.

No matter what the date is, it's always good....:)

The varying steep times sometimes contribute to inconsistencies in the liquid, honestly... if you get a bottle of CB that's pre-steeped 10 weeks, and then the next bottle has been pre-steeped for 2 weeks... but - they all land in the same place. ;)
