Hi all, just got home from work and my new Orchid V4 was here waiting on me.
Kinda excited ok, thing is I started building coils for it using 28g wire.
Here the problem, I cant seem to loosen up the four screws on the post.
Are these normal threads or reverse threads?
Cant install new coils till I can loosen up those freaking screws lol.

Thanks, normally I never have such problems.

dang I was hoping you were going to say the screws are too little to hold the 28 twisted pair..

I know I sure wouldn't spray WD40 in it

maybe put it in the 'fridge

I've got the Tobeco V4..and the screws are threaded lefty loosey righty tighty *lol*

good luck finding it..did you check Youtube? a review maybe ? where they take it apart?

I vaguely recall screws on one or two of my RTAs (and I'm pretty sure it was an Orchid) being very tight. Anyway, its a standard threading and unscrews the same as any screw. Counter clockwise. Just make sure to use a good screw driver with the proper sized phillips head and to use enough down force on it so you don't cam out, otherwise you're very likely to strip it.

With no farther ado, got the screws out and everything going like it suppose to now. :)
Went down and purchase some high quality screw driver set and man it did the job.
That tiny Phillips screw driver that came with it wasn't up to the task at hand.
I had similar sizes, but nothing that tiny #00 Phillips is what I needed.

I sincerely appreciate you all answering the call....God dang thing didn't want to come loose lol. :D

This is obviously become a serious hobby hehhe.

Thanks again.

The Chinese screwdriver god has bestowed six on me. Want me to send you some for your collection? I prefer the eyeglass repair kit kind of tiny phillips.

Lol, got my share of those little blue handle phillips.
Actually this 00 phillips is a smaller size.
The one that came with the Orchid has a clear plastic handle.
Just couldnt grip well enough to tork out those tight screws argg!
Other than that I'd invested on some special coil building tools and seem to be off to a good start.
Never ran into anything that tight.

Thanks again. :)

I had this problem with one of the screws , you need a flatter phlillips screwdriver . The wholes in those screws are very shallow , even the rare blue screwdriver made of titanium and pure cristal doesn't work . One of my screwdirvers from my huge box of tools worked though and i unscrewed it , than I took all the kayfun screws I had that come with the packages and used those . Btw why the v4 , I had one of those and it leeked like a motha fuka and its because the air holes are not seperated from the cotton like the v6 and on the v6 , the cotton doesnt move at all when you insert the chimney because of that elevation on the air holes

Ya, Iv gotten a head or two that had the screws run into it like King kong had put it together. Both my Orchid and Mute X had the screws in em so tight I had to be really careful about getting them out. Best thing I could do was find a really good fitting driver, and use a vise to hold it so I could push down with enough tension to break them free. Wrap the part in a light towel or rag, or even a rubber glove, so you can grip it with a channel lock or vise, and use a driver that fits it tight, and push down while turning.

Best of luck, :?)
