Out in the middle of Nowhere
I'm very new here and trying to learn how to find my way around here. I've quit smoking analogs as of this morning.
I'm basically going cold turkey because I'm just using the ecig with no nicotine. Are there any 'groups' or' blogs' for groups of people who want to quit nicotine? If so, I'd LOVE to join, I just don't know WHERE on this site to find them!
My husband is still smoking analogs and has no desire at this point to stop. I have seen soo many people here who have tickers with Days on them that they've been smoke free and I'm IMPRESSED to say the least! I'm hoping it'll rub off on me!!:) So if anyone happens onto this post who is a member of such a group, please give me a link to the group!:2cool:
Thanks! and Happy vaping to all!:vapor:

Congratulations and welcome to ECF! I am not familiar with any nicotine support groups. Most of the people here use vaping as an alternative to smoking traditional cigarettes, hence the desire to have nicotine in their eliquid. Maybe someone will post who has some knowledge of such a group. Is there a reason you are going straight to zero nic? I would think it would be much easier with some nic eliquid. Just a thought. Glad you are here. :)

Hi, congratulations on quitting smoking and welcome to ECF. I would consider purchasing some nicotine e liquid. I was a heavy smoker and haven't touched a single cigarette since I started vaping, haven't even got a craving for one. Nicotine is a stimulant just like caffeine, the problem is that tobacco is a cancer causing delivery system, vaping is not. Vaping with nicotine would be far more beneficial and will increase your chances of being smoke free :) You can slowing reduce the nicotine content of your e liquid down to 0, rather than starting at 0. Hope this advice helps and good luck.

I commend you on your willpower to "cold turkey". I think you'll find most on ECF that have gone to zero nicotine have done it with the slowly dropping down method. Painless but will take a bit longer than your method. It took me 6 month to get to zero nic but it was easy as could be and not one withdrawal symptom. Good luck to you!

Agreeing with Sidetrack on this one. I started out with 36mg Nicotine liquid about 5 months ago, not down to below half of that. Along the way, a lot of the problems from smoking that bothered me are gone. Don't think that you have to have the mindeset of, "I have to go with 0 nicotine from the start". gradually decreasing the amount of nicotine in eliquids works.

I think it is very courageous of you to choose this route of going zero straight away. I also think most people here are trying to say (and I'm sure I am) it's not necessary to do so. Why make it hard on yourself like this? It will only make the chance of failure bigger. And then you will be blaming yourself and feel miserable. No need for that, take the slow road would be my advice. Still, I wish you all the luck in the world!

Well, it isn't like I'm going from smoking 2 packs of analogs a day to no nico ecig. I've been trying to quit now for quite some time! I've tried the patch and gum and they work ok until I get off them, THEN I start having trouble...but THEN is also about 2-3 weeks into my quit, and I'm not as motivated as when it's Day 1....So basically I'm going from having 8 mg in the morning and 8 mg in the evening to no nicotine all day.. That isn't such a bad jump...or shouldn't be anyway:p Thanks for all the well wishes you've all given me! It means alot to me! Mind you I have nothing against people who vape with nico...it's ALOT healthier than smoking analogs! It's just for me I want to get off the nico.
