Last week i decided to snoop around online to "try" an e-cig because it was something I always wanted to try. I knew of the companies like Blu, and a few others, so those were my first destinations. Googling "Best e-cig" yielded mass amounts of information, and flood of advertisements. Still confused on what to buy, I stumbled upon this forum. At first I just browsed around the New Member forum trying to decrypt the mass amounts of information. Terms like "Kgo, eGo, V1, V1, Attys, Atomizers, Cartos, e-juice, PG/VG, TH" confused the hell out of me. "What the HELL are these people taking about!" was my first impression. What does this all mean! I just wanted to try a damn e-cig to see if I even like the dang things hahaha. But here I was trying to understand all this confusing lingo I had absolutely no clue what it all ment. "Don't you just buy a simple kit, plug it in, and go?" That's what I thought initially.

Turned out there's a lot more to it than I ever realized. After spending an entire day talking with a lot of you I started to catch on. So many of you were very helpful, and this extremely helped with not getting scared off by all the information. Turns out, it is really simple, but it was just a world I had no clue about.

After much debate in my head, I went ahead and ordered up the Kgo kit. I continued to read these forums on a daily basis continuing to educate myself on this world of "vaping". The kit showed up Friday morning, and then my juice showed up a day after. Fill it up, and I was ready to go! Took my first draw, and was amazed. It was everything I though it was going to be, and more!

I stopped smoking that last Saturday morning, and have not looked back. The first few days I found myself mentally craving to go outside, and light up. I was not itching to do so, but the mental habit still lingered. That only last the first few days, and it was in/out of my head within minutes. It's been a week now, and the urge has completely vanished. I never really liked smoking to be honest. I was addicted to the nicotine, and still am. But the smell, taste, chemicals, tar, stains smoking leaves always disgusting to me. I was a smoker who hated to smoke.

So whats the consensus of all of this? My thanks to everyone here! By being patient, doing some research, listening to you all, and not jumping the gun most likely allowed this to be an enjoyable experience. I think if I had just impulsed bought the first starter kit out there, I probably wouldn't have stuck to vaping. It may have turned me off to it all. One of my first e-juices I bought was a tobacco flavor. I vaped it once, and have not used it again. With all the outstanding flavors available, why use tobacco flavor? I did that for YEARS! Inhaling 1000's of chemicals filled by burning tar vs. Inhaling bakery fresh Apple Pie - HANDS DOWN vaping WINS! BAR NON! Not to mentioned the price difference!

I used to be embarrassed that I smoked. I hated being somewhere and having to say "Excuse me while I go outside". With Vaping that embarrassment does not exist. Still, I think some people don't grasp the ideal of this, but that's just because they are uneducated to it. I'm proud to be a vaper now, and it was soooooooo easy to switch. To be honest, I had no clue how EASY quitting smoking would be. Amazing...

I smoked for over 4 decades and quit cold turkey once and stayed off cigarettes for 2 1/2 years. I was a nervous wreck for the first few months, looking for something to do with my hands!

Finding ecigs was what I needed. Some of us need the habit, just not the carcinogens and the chemicals that take your life away a little at a time. Vaping made me forget about smoking most of my cigarettes, and the last few were easy to give up once I realized that vaping would allow me to do that with no regrets and no withdrawal.

Congratulations on finding the vaping community and discovering the easy way to transfer the need for nicotine to something that is considerably healthier.

Congrats on switching over! It's really a no brainer once you've had a decent vaping experience. I'm glad it was so easy for you like it was for me. Just remember, even if you do slip up, the vaping world and ECF will still be here to help you out. I had a lapse of a couple of months after I started vaping because of trouble with my cigarette look-a-like. But going back to smoking for those few months only renewed my determination to stay off cigarettes for good this time. I got a kgo this time around and haven't looked back since. I think being informed about your options is one of the best aids to stop smoking that there is. Thank god for ECF!

This is awesome! I love reading others stories about how they got into vaping and the results thereof. I am happy to hear that you found this forum before getting your first kit.

I went the route of the lower end but well advertised beginner kits years ago. I lucked into a good kit from a local vendor that recently opened up near my house. I sort of found this forum at the same time as I got that kit. I was happy to read that the kit I was purchasing wasn't some low end kit and would be what I needed to help me quit smoking. I have already moved up to the next level model after a week and a half of using my first kit. My lucky wife inherited my other kit.

I didn't immediately quit smoking like you did (well done by the way) however I cut my smoking into less than half of what I used to smoke. However, today is my first fully day with no real cigarettes. I think I am finally putting those things behind me.

Glad to have you around and thanks for your story!

Congrats mate! I've been vaping since May 1st, haven't touched an analog since. Me other mates find it quite hard to believe I can switch just like that after smoking for 18 donkey years.

I'm absolutely with you 100%. It is TRULY amazing how my 15 year habit diminished over night, but I'm so so so glad it did :)

It is the easiest method I have tried. The longest I went without a cigarette was 24 hours using patches.

When I started vaping I had a cigarette the first day and then one 2 days later (both after dinner) and since havent had one. It's now been over 3 months and I don't even think of having a cigarette. The smell of smoke now makes me sick and burns my sinuses. I can see why non-smokers complan about cigarette smoke now! I'd never complain though, I know what it's like. :)

Nicely done! I wish my switch from analog to e-cig could be that smooth, I don't know if it's just because I live in Canada but I had never even heard of e-cigs until a few months ago. Oh and good luck finding a local vendor! All I can say is "thank goodness" for this forum, because without all the post from the informative people on here I would have given up long before I ever got started, as it is I'm still smoking analog's half the time but I'm very optimistic that this will change very soon:)
