I've been getting the typical quitters flu symptoms, minus the headaches, nausea etc. TBH no major discomfort.
A sore throat that's getting worse, phlegm-y feeling down my nose and at the back of my throat but not coughing up.
Weirdest symptom is a sore tongue mostly very far back my throat!
I've smoke about 2 analogs in the past 2 weeks (awesome or what?) and getting quite turned off by the smell of real cigarettes.
I'm mostly concerned about my tongue, it feels like I've been eating/drinking lots of unripe pineapples or burnt it.

More info;
I'm using 80/20 PG/VG and alternating between 11mg nic menthol and 0mg caramel flavor.
I try to puff mostly on the 0mg caramel unless I really feel like a hit of nicotine.
I'm definitely using the e-cig more than I used to smoke (3-10 stick/day for 15-20yrs).
I've quit short term (week or 2 maybe) and never had symptoms.
Is there anyway to tell if this is an allergy/bad reaction/burn from e-cigs or quitters flu?
I'm serious about quitting smoking & eventually nicotine but I don't want to give myself tongue cancer or popcorn lung or something crazy like that from e-cigs.
I don't mind investing a little to experiment on liquids if it will elevate my symptoms.
Where should I start? Any suggestions will be appreciated.

I would try a 100% VG e-liquid for awhile and see if your symptoms go away. If not, or if they get worse, try 100% PG and see how that goes. Some people can't vape any PG (like myself) and some no VG. Flavorings can affect some people too. You just need to try some different combo's and see what works best for you. Don't give up tho, because once you find what works, you'll be very happy! :)

Are you drinking lots of fluids? The sore throat could be dehydration, but the sore tongue might be a reaction to the flavors (but I'm not a medical professional). You might also have a cold or you might be experiencing a mild reaction to the flavors or to the PG or the VG. You might try unflavored VG, and unflavored PG as well. ( lotta help right?)

I've read a little about people cutting their own juice using pharmaceutical grade VG/PG. Is that safe?
I'd like to experiment with my own natural flavors, am an avid cook. Although it seems like an oxymoron coming from a smoker! I'm also a bit of a health nut when it comes to artificial food flavoring and additives.
Is there stuff I want to avoid? I read that food grade stuff should be safe, labeled USP. Is this correct?
I'll go to the pharmacy to ask tomorrow but want to be sure to ask for the right stuff.
Thanks everyone here, you've been really helpful and welcoming.

You should only use food grade PG/VG for DIY...so yes look for USP. I use flavoring from LorAnn, Perfumers Apprentice and Flavor Art. I get my nic base from China...but you can also get in here in the USA.

Sorry...just noticed you are in Europe...Flavor Art is in Italy so that might be the best place to start.
