Hi all, new here. I have a question for anyone who remembers what it was like when they first quit analogs for vaping. I've not smoked any cigs for 5 days now and I've noticed that my juices aren't tasting like they did before I quit, like the flavors have gotten weaker. So that leaves me wondering if quitting smoking can affect our taste buds?? If anything I assumed my juices would taste slightly stronger since they've been sitting (seeping) for a couple of weeks. I'm a little bummed about this so am hoping it's only temporary.

I remember flavor being all over the place when I quit. All juice was good at first, because the miracle was inhaling and exhaling "smoke," not having great flavor. Then my likes and dislikes changed rapidly. Within a couple months, I finally started having some ability to distinguish flavors in a real way, and finding preferences I've mostly stuck with. But I'm pretty sure after nine months my taste buds are still changing.

Thanks for sharing your experience y cherry. Knowing about vapors tongue has me feeling a bit hesitant about buying much more juice. I don't want to spend the money if it's going to taste bad. I've got some here at home and more on the way already, maybe I'll just stick with what I have, and keep enough to keep me vaping and see if this passes before I decide to buy much more.

I had vaper's tongue for like a week and a half after having been quit for 2 or so weeks. I couldn't taste any juice that whole time. It went away and hasn't come back. I'm told the taste buds go into shock at first and shut down due to overload. Hang in there. And like y cherry y said, they're still changing as are my preferences. *Do* drink a LOT of water though.

Yeah, just vape what's around if you can stand it. Soon enough you'll be looking for flavor AND be able to taste it!

Vapour's Tongue can be unpleasant! It left me climbing the walls and desperate for flavour. It didn't last very long though so you just need a little patience, a variety of flavours and maybe some hard candy (boiled sweets) on hand. Keep your mouth and teeth clean, keep drinking water, keep swapping flavours regularly and if you need to, suck on the hard candy while vaping so you're at least getting some flavour in the meantime. Seriously, it does pass in a couple of days and this is the hardest milestone to get past. However, if I can do it, so can you!x

hey pennysmalls,

I'm going through it right now too. I'm on day 17 of no analogs and day 10 of vaper's tongue. It sucks SO much. (I'm sure the board is tired of hearing me btch about it - sorry guys) It has been hard to not want an analog when the tasty flavor isn't there, but I'm making it through.

I can't taste any sweetness or vanilla, fruit, caramel ... just tastes like air :(

The one thing that has been helping me is menthol. I'm just putting a few drops into a juice I wasn't really into. The cool hit of the menthol helps a little with satisfaction.

Also, last night I noticed I could taste root beer a little bit! I guess whatever the somewhat minty aspect is in root beer helps along with the heavy scent.

I've still been ordering juice samples though - I can't help it, they're piling up!! The day I can taste again is going to be so awesome!!

Hope your flavor comes back soon!

I'm going through vapor's tongue right now too. Everything tastes awful. I quit cigarettes too, and this kind'f just makes me want to reach for them because it'd be so much more satisfying. I'm abstaining though. :(

Yeah, this is why finding any and every juice that tastes good to you is critical. For me the coffees were good from the start, and the heavy cream flavored juices like the Dragon series from ECBlend have gotten me through. The Dragon's series ones are flavors I actually look forward to vaping, they are yummy.

Thanks for the tips and suggestions everyone! This vapors tongue has gotten worse as today wore on and my sense of smell has gone wonky. All but one of my juices are unvapeable, and my juices from one company make me sick to my stomach if I even just catch a whiff of them, they smell so bad! I'm still able to vape Sour Apple from Awesome Clouds, but just barely.
I went through my kitchen today seeking out things that might shock my taste buds back to life but nothing worked. I may have gone a bit overboard but I was desperate lol! Salt and vinegar chips, crushed red pepper, hot sauces, and salt water gargles. I went out and bought Biotene mouth wash but no go. I like that mouth wash though, very tingly! I'll keep up with the water and brushing teeth/tongue and just do my best to ride this out I guess. Bummed.

It is like we are spoiled now. Taste buds are working, and not knowing what to do with them. When I smoked, I wasn't picky about soda. The whole Coke vs. Pepsi thing I couldn't understand. I was happy with Sam's Choice. Now Coke has a "diet" aftertaste to it, Pepsi is just too syrupy, Sam's tastes fake and funky, now I only like RC. Same with my juice. When I first started vaping, anything that wasn't smoke tasted good to me, now I am picky! I hated tobacco flavors when I started vaping, because tobacco flavors were more like when you open a bag of pipe tobacco or a pack of cigarettes and took a whiff, that's what the vape tastes like, not actual smoke. It has been almost two years, I am over smoking, and I like the flavored tobacco juices (RY4, orange spice tobacco, vanilla almond tobacco, honey hookah) for the subtleness. I like my fruity flavors, but I keep a tank of tobacco flavor on hand for a break.

Penny, if you are getting nauseated, you might want to go to Walmart and get a bottle of glycerine (by rubbing alcohol in the pharmacy section, has a blue and pink label, Humco) and some Lor Ann raspberry flavor concentrate (cake decorating, arts and crafts section) and DIY some zero nic juice. You may be OD'ing on nic.

I tried every remedy I could find suggested online (I eat spicy food every day anyway, pickles, vinegar, etc) and nothing has worked. I really think it's just a matter of time and letting your mouth heal. I've kept up with the water, tongue scraping and biotene because that's just good for general oral health and hydration and certainly can't hurt. It really sucks, but I haven't heard anyone say it's been permanent for them, so I just keep trudging along.

Just keep in there, I had it real bad for about 2 weeks, I almost think it is the tongue shutting down while it makes repairs. I just kept puffing away though on my vape because it made the cravings go away. The same day I quit smoking I quit drinking soda. So my body was really mad at me. One day I woke up had my morning Vape and could actually taste magic. I then proceeded to have the best tasting breakfast of my life...It was cinnamon toast crunch if you are wondering
