If you want to quit just quit... no easy way getting off nicotine. It is said to be more powerful the ...... as far as addiction & relapse.
Ya think?
Actually, smoking is bad....period. There is no reason to promote and promulgate unsubstantiated propaganda about "nicotine". There is no doubt smoking is bad...none. However, nicotine is but one of hundreds of compounds in cigarette smoke (the "4000 chemicals" is another unsubstantiated BS statement). If you look REALLY hard for scientific evidence to support all of the claims in your statement - you will either find none..or you will find studies that no self respecting scientist would put their name on and that could not survive a pier review......and that were funded by some "anti-group" that wanted a particular result. The "anti" groups make a living at being "anti groups"....its amazing just how LITTLE is actually known about nicotine...and the amount of info that is known but is suppressed. What do the "anti groups" do w all that money they collect? By process of elimination..one can say w surety they do not "do" science.
When self serving "anti groups" start dictating "science"...it is time to get worried...very worried.
Smoking is bad for everyone...there is no exception...however, nicotine is a medicine for many....and should be avoided if at all possible by the rest of us. I rather puff on an ecig than a cigarette...but I would really rather do niether. And, it looks like the anti groups are targeting ecigs...they prefer that smokers have no alternative to smoking ... AND that they not smoke.....here in the land of the free.
Thank you TaketheRedPill. So far I've had not had any nicotine since before dinner. Which was like 5 hours ago!
I am 27. I am indeed a non smoker. I've been wanting to smoke all of my life. My sister and brother smoked at one point in their life. They don't smoke anymore tho. I think that is the reason I want too. I know I made a bad choice. I am going to be going to 0nic. Give the nic a rest. I've only been vaping for 3 days. I am already experiencing the withdrawal.
The reason I want to quit is cause, I respect my parents greatly. I do not want to upset them in anyway. So yeah. No more nicotine for me. No matter how good it feels. I feel stupid.
I did however have a real cig here or there. It made me feel ill. This ecig does not. I would feel much better, and so would my heart! I had open heart surgery no less. When I was born that is.
I am aware that is one of the most powerful drugs out there. Is the second day supposed to be harder then the first? I feel like I am climbing the walls. I had difficulty concentrating at work yesterday. I wanted to take a puff when I woke up. I didn't though. I need some encouragement. Even though I feel that I don't deserve it. I made a list up to say to myself and that seems to help. I also am not charging it. Which also helps.
The key is to quit the e cig for yourself, not for your parents or for anyone else. At 27, you are an adult with a history of heart problems. Sorry, but I have real trouble believing that you addicted yourself to nicotine in 3 days. As a smoker, I remember when I started smoking. I would smoke only on weekends and not even think about cigarettes during the week. The idea of full-fledged addiction to nicotine via e cigarettes after 3 days stretches credibility. Give the e cig away to a smoker and just go on with your life.
If I may ask, what was their reason for being upset? Your post makes e-cigs sound like ...... or something. This is not a bad road....
If you weren't a smoker prior to ecigs than I can see a small point of their frustration, but it is still much better than smoking analog cigs. Did you max out your credit card on e-cig supplies or something? If that is the case then it's not the e-cigs fault, it's your own. Personal Responsibility.
edit: I'm only 19 so I can relate to the whole parental approval thing. My mother didn't even know I have been smoking since age 13 but I explained to her how my habit began, etc etc. She was very skeptical about the e-cig and thought I had just started dumping things into my body because other people said it was safe. I informed her that I spent countless hours doing tons of research before I decided to take the route to e-cigs. I told her everything about them and more, showed her tons of web pages and studies about pure nicotine and the e-cig.
At the end of the day, she still seemed a tiny bit skeptical (thanks FDA) but I did all I could. She doesn't finance me at all, I pay my own rent in my own apartment, I pay for my classes, and I pay my car payment, so even if she disagreed I could still vape at no cost, but it is important for me (as I'm sure it is to you) to have parental approval over anything, even if they have no control over it.
I would need more details on your situation to give you any further advice, but I am willing to help any way I can.
