I've been using rayon cotton and I've noticed it mutes the flavor am I doing something wrong?

Probably. If you have pure cellucotton/rayon, it shouldn't impart any taste. That said, I have had some juices taste worse with rayon. I'm pretty sure it just turned out that the actual taste of the juice wasn't what I was used to with cotton.
One time, after switching to rayon, I accidentally used cotton. Mid-way through my first hit it became apparent that it was definitely cotton I'd accidentally used.

Usually it's muted if you use too much density in the coil. Like if you roll or twist it tight. But too little is most common for a new user and along with that you would get some dry coil/ burnt tasting hits.
I'm not getting dry hits just no flavor right now I'm using my orchid here is a picture

Thanks for the pics. The coils do look a little dry just sitting idle.
Most of us thin the tails down substantially. You want the thickest part if the rayon to be in the coil. Or the tails will want the juice. Rayon likes to stay wet and will move juice to the thickest part, in your case away from the coil. This is where it is much different than cotton. It doesn't absorb but deliver. So think of a tree or a heart. The biggest part of the rayon will be in the coil. The rest is like roots or veins. Thin the tails down by 50% and try that.
This is how thin I run my tails - even on a dripper.
I'll post these pics just for something different from all the other pics I post on here. It was an experimental build but shows the tails.
I cut 2/3 off
See the thin tails they sop up all the juice.

For folks who don't want to search that ungodly thread, Mielke's offers a half a pound of Tencel top for $17 shipped, i.e. a lifetime's supply.
My preference is to make my wick shoulders about the same ID as the coil. I make them maybe a tad larger. The wick and the coil need air. Hope this helps.
That form isn't widely used, however I do have some. The fiber is a little different than the others; straight without a crimp. You can also get rayon at Sally's beauty supply 500ft for 12.00. Delascos rayon balls 200 for less than 12 shipped. Also springvalley meletonin *1mg size only, has meletonin filler if you want to try a sample.
The Thread search tool cuts through all the posts there pretty well.
