If you don't want to use Temperature Control, some Kanthal wire would be fine and probably cheapest. I don't know how huge that build deck is or what resistance coil, but steam-engine.org could probably be a help, there. If you want TC, then stainless steel is usually good, as you can use in temp or wattage mode. I'd say gauge-wise, somewhere from 24--28 gauge (again, each one will have a different mass and resistance, which is what steam-engine is for, to target your resistance).

If you want to get all fancy, you could get a coilmaster's kit or even just an ohm's reader to build on (it's a stable base) and to test your coils after you wrap them, but that's far from mandatory, you CAN use your mod to read the resistance of the coil.

You might want to look at this forum: Rebuildable Atomizer Systems especially the coilbuilding forum for tips tricks and whatnot.

Good luck,

Anna

I use the big baby rba myself, and while there's no definitive answer to your question i don't roll my own coils (mainly because that rba base is so small and awaiting to be replaced on my end). At the moment though, i'm using some clapton coils i got from my vape shop, they're from wotofo and rated at about .6 each (big baby rba uses 2 and they're rated at .24 together). Here's a link to the ones i'm currently using : CLAPTON WIRE i use the 24+32GA at 2mm ones. Unfortunately that's about all i gotta add since anna pretty much summed it up quite nicely.

Hi and welcome. I vape stainless 316 wire pretty much exclusively, and it can be used both in wattage and TC modes. As to what size, it's going to be dependent on what ohms you want the coil to hit. FWIW, I vape in the 25-40 watt range, and find 28ga to be the most useful size. If you vape lower watts, you'll want smaller wire (higher gauge number) and if you vape more watts, bigger wire.
