Hi, I don't have one but have read up on them.
Does it heat up the tokes much ?
Is there much of a learning curve ?

And the most telling question, how satisfied are u with and would u purchase again?

Hey mate,

I rate this thing very highly. I actually have 2 of them in case 1 breaks in someway. Only way I see that happening though is if I drop it and break the glass. I’ve dropped it once from waist height onto hard tiles and it is fine.

I’ve come from smoking water pipes and this is the first dry herb vape I’ve tried that has satisfied. Other ones I have tried are the volcano and plenty but they didn’t do it for me.

The biggest learning curve I think is how to use the mod, but coming from an ecig background you’ll be fine. I have mine running on a dna250c using temp control and have handed it to people who have never even seen a vape before and they’ve had great results. Just hold the button and inhale. There’s profiles you can download on the evolv forum for dna devices, FCShare is the name of the thread, to take out the guess work. I’ve bumped up my wattages a bit to 55w and 65w preheat as in temp control it’s not a constant power so it won’t damage the unit.

I’ve also used mine on a Geekvape aegis legend & solo in TC mode and they work great. 55w and 140tcr. Wattage mode is fine too though if you don’t want to mess with tc mode, 38w seems to be the sweet spot for me. You just need to be a bit careful to release the button not long after you start getting vapour so you don’t combust. Medium to slow draw speed does the job with both wattage and tc although you can draw a bit faster in tc as the chip regulates the temp for you.

As far as heat goes, I usually use one of the xl8r cooling stems, I’d highly recommend this upgrade although it’s still comfortable with the standard straight stem, just a bit warmer.

Hope this helps. :)

Very interesting - sounds good for microdosing. Will look into this. Thanks a lot @Psyentist !

Yeah man, it’s perfect for one person or small groups. I think some people even run them in automatic mode (constant power without holding button) at low wattage (15 - 20) with an updated firmware (mysurevic or something) where it acts a a mini log. Sounds a bit dodgy to me though as these people have had issues with accidentally leaving it running. Also, basket size is approx 0.1g. :)

0.1g! That's fantastic for me man. I seriously only take 1 or 2 tokes a night, that's it. My issue with vaporizers has been inefficiency at that low of a dose. I've had some recommendations but they all look a bit finicky or hold too much in the basket. I'm really intrigued by this :thumb:

Yeah man, like I said, I highly recommend this thing. It works as well if not better with half a basket. It’s good as well in tc mode as you can turn the temp down and sip on it for the flavour as opposed to trying to extract it all in a few tokes, which it can do as well. Best of both worlds. :thumb:

I think most would agree that the Dynavap and e-nano are the kings of micro dosing.

The vapcap bowl is ~0.05 grams.
Super tasty sipper.
Also capable of delivering massive hits, and I mean massive.
Multiple heating options, torch lighter, alcohol lamp, induction heater etc.
Very capable with superb quality and customer service, made in USA.
Very affordable.
Largest thread on FC because reasons.

YMMV.

I'll take another look at the dyna, and I haven't looked into the e nano at all. Thanks! :thumb:

I highly recommend the Splinter and the Zed too

Grab yourself a cooling stem, if you buy either. They need it :)

I run mine in temp control mode with Arctic Fox on my mods with TCR125, PID enabled, 45W max for the Splinter and 50w max for the Zed, double click cruise (autofire)
Or with HerbieVonVapster's DNA profiles on DNA mods FCSHARE

My pleasure Sloth and if you have any questions please ask in a thread or PM and I will do my best to give honest answers including "I don't know", if that is the case. ;0
There is a large thread on micro dosing on FC you will probably like, good crowd over there too.

So many options it can difficult to commit especially at the start.

For US buyers Play Safe, Vaporize! Puff It Up! is a highly regarded vendor as well as Buy Vaporizers, Glass & Adapters in USA - Free shipping over $25!
Lots of junk available but if the above handle the product it is likely very good.

Good luck! :)

I'll look that thread up when I get some time to research. Because I really would love to kick the MJ combustion. You're right it's difficult to commit because of all the options. I've tried a few in recent years and I just haven't been able to get into them. But they were the Mighty, Pax and Firefly. Of those, the Firefly came the closest to what I am looking for but it was wildly inconsistent in my experience. Very cool little vaporizer though, and worked great for extracts. But I'm not really into extracts at the moment, so when I find something that suits my low consumption for herbal vapes, I'll be a happy Sloth :)

Appreciate all the suggestions from everybody!

I'm researching right now - turns out that Splinter Z is made in the Adirondacks!?

View attachment 849849

That's wild. I'm really loving the looks of this.

I got an email from them today saying you can use the code ‘Newsletter20’ for 20% off at www.rastabuddhatao.com, except for the Milaana2 and the Milaana3 preorder, until Sunday. I’d recommend the splinterZ over the splinter, it has a larger heater. The US ones are a bit more expensive but you have the splinterZ v1 & v2 which are made in China and a bit cheaper. The difference between the v1 & v2 is only the wood type and glass colour. Also the Chinese ones have a ceramic insulator while the US ones use mica. The US ones use a thicker glass too. I’ve used a US one and a v1 and they work just as well as each other. The Chinese ones are a good option if money is a bit tight, especially with 20% off. :)

I wound up ordering a Dynavap today - long story short it just looked like it had "Sloth" written all over it, but I'm still super interested in this Splinter Z, particularly since it's designed in my area. I was going to wait until I experience the Dynavap to decide, but at 20% off, I'm considering just ordering this as well. Appreciate that heads-up. I'd opt for the US one honestly, thicker glass alone sounds like it merits some extra $$ and I'm not on a tight budget per se.

Ugh, it's been a heavy day of shopping. Ordered a Dynavap and 3 mods, now on the verge of ordering the Z  having a couple options for MJ vaping would be nice though. It's appealing that this works on my 510 threaded mods.

Ah to heck with it - order up.

I'm done, no more orders today. Dynavap and Splinter Z Bubinga incoming. Excited to try both! Thanks again for letting me know about the coupon code :) I got the stem upgrade you mentioned earlier as well.

These look beautiful too. Would've preferred a Wenge but Bubinga's a really nice wood. Which do you have?

Haha, that’s the spirit mate!

I’m quietly confident that’ll you’ll be happy with the Z. I have a wenge one, it goes well with the darker mods. I also won a Z v1 in a giveaway which I passed on to a friend. I think they’re bubinga. I did like that one though, it had more of a nice natural wood look to it. The cooling stem upgrade makes a world of difference too, I use the longer one.

I’d be interested to hear a comparison between the Z and the dynavap. I did look at the dynavap but didn’t really want to mess around with butane. The fact that the splinter works with my mods is what sold me. And I’m super happy with it.

Let me know how you go brother. And if I can help you in any way I’d be happy to.

I'll definitely post back with my thoughts man, and compare the two for sure. I think I'll love both of them for different reasons. The Dynavap looks great for hiking/camping and such, as it's essentially mechanical and the butane is a draw in that regard. But I foresee many evenings at my desk with the Z on a mod, blissfully vaping away :)

Thanks for bringing this to our attention as I'd never heard of it before. Really excited to try it :) still can't get over that it's designed in my area. I wonder where at, specifically. :w00t:
