rc or cellphone batterys ?

Will any 3-4v 1000ma battery work in a box mod? Are there any safety issues to worry about ? I ask cuz the 18650 batts add more thickness than I want my box mod to be.

No cellphone style battery is IMR (from what I've heard) & I'm not sure if any have internal protection. This = bad.

Why is imr bad? I did a Google search and found that limn an lipo are safe from overcharging but lico can blow up. What is used in the 18650 battery's?

I think Plumes meant ICR. Regardless of battery selection you have to research the battery you are looking to use. Specifically, what is it's maximum discharge rate in context of what you are building and what you plan to use on it. That factor alone would eliminate practically all cell phone batteries as not being high discharge rate batteries. Some RC batteries may work - but unless you can find the specs on them and know how to do the math anything could be risky.

Plume's meant IMR. most of the batteries that are used in the APV are IMR. What he meant to say was that he wasnt sure whether or not cell phone batteries were in fact IMR. Which I am pretty sure they are not.

do a search for LiPo batteries on youtube and you will see that they do go wrong with overcharging.... very wrong...

You want to check out the battery safety page on here it will not only tell you the difference between them all but what their Max output is and depending on what your setup looks like you'll know the best to get and be safe. I'd stay with AW IMR 18350 's and Sony vtc3or4's in an 18650 they are by far and away the best. Don't stack 18350' s. Don't ruin your batteries down really far, those are the secrets of batteries in this game.

While your searching out LiPo bats, you might take notice that they are often called "the worlds most dangerous battery".
They work fine if you add the potection ckts like you will find in APV's, or with a DNA board, but you damn well better be well versed in battery safety before you start building box mods with them.

What's the advantage to that anyways? Am I missing something, did someone appear a lipo battery that's better than a Sony vtc?
