So I have a velocity rda and I built it with 22g 5 wraps around 3.5mm dual coil coming out to .2ish ohms... What I am wondering is after 5-10 hits at 70 or 80 watts the rda gets hot on the bottom the steel part that you put on not really the rda itself but the whole metal part that goes on top. Also I noticed some spitback but not as much when I have lots of airflow.. What is the best way to stop spitback.

I'm not surprised that your top cap is getting hot. 0.2 ohms with 80 watts of power generates a lot of heat. Do you really need to build that low to be satisfied?

What mod and batteries are you using?

Spitback in part is caused by too much e-liquid. Don't over fill your dripper.

Using a longer drip tip or one which is baffled or angled (like a Knucklehead drip tip) will prevent juice splatter.

Don't over drip and the spit back can be minimal. Sometimes how you wick can cause it too.

As far as your RDA getting hot, at 0.2 ohms and 80 watts, it's very normal for this to happen. Don't chain vape and it should be fine. I can make an RDA hot after 5-10 pulls at 1.2 ohms and 40w. You have a coil being fired and heating up. The heat has to go somewhere, it heats the top cap up.

Um, turn on a 75 watt light bulb for 5 seconds, turn off. Repeat 5 - 10 times and touch the light bulb. Then put ice on your finger.

If the mod is getting hotter on threaded areas, take it apart and clean them, and perhaps consider using a conductive thread lube (sparingly.) NoAlox is one, there are numerous others. Any good hardware store will have some.

Usually I find that spit-back is caused by over dripping or because of the wicking method used. You can try to drip less, a longer or angled drip tip, or changing your wicking around a bit. Typically any RDA will get hot if chain vaped in your case 70-80W @ .2ishΩ is going to get hot period. You can mitigate this partially by increasing your airflow. A delrin or acrylic drip tip will help keep the tip from getting too hot and/or burning your lips.
