RDA Help please.

Hello,

I am still relatively new to vaping in general, I started last October with Ego's and clearo's. While I have learned a great deal from the fine folks on this forum I have recently ran into something that has me puzzled. I have in the past used tanks with prebuilt coils, and more recently a Kayfun. After hearing that great flavor could be had from and RDA I decided to get one (the Helios). Now the mod I am using is the MVP v2, and am currently waiting on the Hana V3 full size from SS Vapes. When I built a dual coil setup for the RDA I used 28 gage Kanthal (11 wraps on each coil)and organic cotton balls for my wicks. It came to about 1.6 ohms. When I tried to fire it at 11 watts on my MVP v2 it barely made any vapor and it tasted terrible, Very strong and overly sweet with Bobas Bounty, and an RY4 from juice Maffia.

My question is, are the RDA's meant to be used in a sub ohm configuration? I know the MVP v2 inadequate for powering A subohm setup but is it also inadequate for powering the RDA in a dual coil configuration with a resistance above 1.5 ohms? Also should I be using a mech mod with high amp batteries or will the Hana Mod(if it ever gets here) be sufficient with high amp batteries? Should the flavor of ejuice be so dramatically different(worse) on an RDA (Helios) vs an RTA ( Kayfun)? I am looking for the best possible flavor thats why I bought the RDA to start with, but what I've tasted so far is not too good. I hope the whole problem is that I need more power I can fix that.

Thank you for taking the time to help out people like me who are trying to learn the art of vaping. Without the support of this forum I don't know where I would be, probably still using the ego/clearo setup.

Thanks
Jason

Poor taste and vapor could be due to several things. Take the barrel of the Helios and pulse the coil, ( make sure cotton is wet or removed ) both coils should light from the middle and spread outward to both sides.

Set your airflow hole on the barrel so that it enables air to flow over the coils.

Make sure your coils are tight enough to engage the wick. New cotton needs several hits to break itself in.

A high drain 30A battery will handle your coil easily. You can always lower the wattage if the vape is too hot or gives a burnt taste. You really have to make sure your wicks are well saturated and positioned to give the best vapor.

Hope this helps.

Yes you will be able to sub ohm with the hana v3, i thas a dna30 board and it will handle, sub ohm is not a must for an rda you allways can use a 1.8 ohm or 2.0 ohm with higher voltage.

if you decide to go sub-ohm allways use a multimeter to read the resistance of your coils before fireing on your mech, or dont use anything else but your dna30
