As I continue the design work on a fire-breathing dragon puppet, I realize that the world of PV is rapidly developing. Things like the clearomizer were not available 2 years ago. Even more volatile situation is that a federal rule may put all our online sources out of business.

So, I realize I need to design for something that can still be working 5 years from now.

Cartomizer, Pluses + and minuses -
-harder draw than the clearomizers.
-fairly small capacity.
-No coil rebuildable.
+They've been around a long time, and will likely continue to be a long term survivor.
+Diameter is standardized.
+No leakage.

eGo Clearomizer;
-Fairly new, and so future availability is not as certain.
-Diameters and profiled from the various sources vary.
-I have not seen a rebuildable coil, although there are replaceable coils.
+Large, visible liquid storage.
+No leakage.

Note that I have seen some other clearomizers and PV systems that have holes for the atomizers closer to one end or another. This makes me concerned about leakage. I am afraid that if the puppet is ever set in an orientation where the mouthpiece is downward, fluid would leak. See the attached drawing for an explanation.

The drawing shows a sphere with two tubes sticking into it from the outside, and going to near the center. One tube is for air inlet, and the other for air outlet. Near the center is also a coil that the air blows onto from the inlet tube. A liquid is shown filling the sphere about 1/3. Because the liquid can never reach the center, it cannot flow out the tubes.

I really prefer the clearomizers in regards to storage, ease of draw, and no leaking. But, the lack of ability to screw in the wire on a new coil has me very concerned about the future. My design can form a seal around the metal skirt. So, perhaps that would be acceptable, since that seems a fairly uniform dimension from the various vendors. It would not matter if the clear tank were changed.

Anyone who has a lot of exposure to he various styles of atomizers, clearmizers, etc. willing to talk voice with me on some of these things?
