Hi all, I have a concern that I would like to open up for discussion here.

battery leakage might be a rare occurrence but I feel that breathing in vapors form the leakage can be extremely hazardous. Almost every one of us will have had experiences with a leaking battery, be it from remote controls or otherwise. And batteries from ecigs are surely not immune to this as well.

I'm currently using various clearomizers from kanger and I can't help but notice that the air holes are extremely close to the contact point of the battery. While it is unlikely that the battery liquid will enter the coil in the event of a leak, the fumes from the battery liquid will surely enter the clearo during vaping. Most of us also clean the heads a few times a day to wipe off droplets of e liquid from the battery connector and thus it might be some time before battery leak can be ascertained.

Please do share your thoughts on this issue and how this risk can be mitigated. I understand that the ego cc draws air from the top and I think this design might solve the problem but can someone who owns one confirm for us that in the event of a battery leak, the battery liquid will not be able to enter the coils?

All toppers/coils/juice delivery systems draw air from the top and above the battery. All toppers/coils/juice delivery systems are separately sealed units. All toppers/juice delivery systems are screwed onto the top of a battey holding device.

I see no concern personally.

Have a good day.

Lithium batteries used with these devices are sealed and pressurized. Believe me - if you end up with an e-cig battery that actually managed to develop a leak - you would know. Outside of the unlikely event of that happening, your battery is completely sealed - there is no "maybe leaking" or "leaking a little" going on here.

Li Ion batteries are in a sealed pressurised container unlike NiCD or NiMH...this is why Li Ion if treated improperly get hot, go into thermal runaway generate too much pressure in that sealed container and "vent" which is a controlled explosion

Contrary to what you have heard on the "bonjour" internet...the batteries in our personal vapers/e-cigs do lot "leak toxic gases" unless they vent...and if they are venting and you have them up to your face...well...I don't think fumes are your most pressing concerns...not blowing your face off would probably be close to the top of the list

Lithium based batteries don't leak, they vent and get hot, that's why there are vent holes in mods and eGo batteries have a bottom cap that will pop off if a battery goes bad.

If you have a battery that goes bad the last thing you need to worry about something in your juice.

Just treat your batteries with respect and you'll be fine. I would recommend that you check out Battery University if you have any questions on battery safety.

All my rba's get their air from the side of the atomizer, not through the stem. But, those that do draw air through the stem screw into a 510 or ego connecter, and there is metal between the atomizer and the actual battery with no venting from the battery compartment to the connection area. Not a concern.
