To anyone who is wondering about the safety Issues of our e-liquids should read this. I noticed Alliance Technologies was involved in the analysis of some of the liquids. Just an observation, But Alliance Tech.LLC is a New Jersey Company. Mercer County I think. Useful, Info for my hopes to see e-cigarettes one day be removed from our Smoking Ban B.S. I Know the "It's easer to stop a Ban then to repeal one" But there was a time when in New Jersey it was Illegal to serve Eggs Sunny side up. I kid you not !!! In short, it was repealed not to long after. Too many people ordering there eggs " Outlaw " I guess. And, on your side Joeseff. The CB Radio Ban. So Thank You for Posting.Sweet :toast:

Pinball machines were illegal in New York City until... 1976. When the movie "Tommy" came out in 1975, New York City folks must have been totally clueless.

The link has been posted before, but for those who have not read Drs. Cahn and Seigel's review of the available evidence on the safety and effectiveness of electronic cigarettes, this definitely is a "must read."

Anyone mind if I repost a link for this review in the medical research forum with a more clear "go-to" Title? I just found this study review report when I was googling for a research trial that was supposedly conducted in my neck of the woods. (Still looking for it too.) I see the Cahn & Seigel review referred to here and there in ecf posts but it really deserves to be in the library and/or easier to locate by title.

Got it. Don't know why I didn't see it come up in my first search on ecf but it does now. Probably too many late nights reading ecf...

That has to be one of the most positive perspectives written up to date from the medical community. Really a "plain English" must read for everyone. A copy of this is going to my Allergist. He's very supportive but I want him to have access to this paper.

Rick

BTW: I'm still looking for a research trial that was supposedly done as Mass. General Hospital in Boston. If I ever locate that study, and any paper from it, I'll post.

Was it this one?

Siegel MB, Tanwar KL, Wood KS. Electronic cigarettes as smoking cessation tool: Results from an Online Survey. American Journal of Preventive Medicine 2011 Apr; 40(4):472-5. http://www.ajpm-online.net/webfiles/images/journals/amepre/AMEPRE3013.pdf (accessed June 2011)

Thanks but that's not it. It's more of a survey of existing users.

We have a ton 'o hospitals around here. And all of them have cessation programs. I was talking with someone at my former (failed) cessation program at Brigham & Women's Hospital and she told me they had already conducted a clinical trial at Mass. General Hospital (MGH) involving the use of e-cigs for smoking cessation. That's the one I'm trying to track down. Unfortunately, the smoking cessation department at MGH isn't tied into - or clued into - the research departments and doesn't know anything about it.

Research? Why would we need to conduct actual research, when we can just write an opinion piece that makes dozens of unfounded accusations? E-Cigarettes: A Rapidly Growing Internet Phenomenon

Physicians should be aware of the popularity, questionable efficacy claims, and safety concerns of e-cigarettes so that they may counsel patients against use and advocate for research to inform an evidence-based regulatory approach.

Physicians should counsel patients to continue inhaling smoke. I'm sure that's an evidence-based approach.
