Hi all! After a few years of using Ego Twist batteries and Protanks (and lurking here on ECF), I think I'm ready for my first APV. Only problem is, I'm a little overwhelmed. I really do not have the wherewithal to devote a whole lot of time and money to putting together an incredible mod (and figuring out all the ins and outs of how they work), I really just want to get something that comes recommended, is relatively inexpensive, and will give me an upgrade in performance.

A Vamo seems like it might be what I'm looking for, but when I went on fasttech to search for them, I saw V2-V5, and 2S-5S, and wasn't sure what all this meant. I also don't really know anything about the generic batteries, i.e. which size batteries to buy for which Vamo and which charger to get. Does anyone have any recommendations for how to proceed, or any links to how-to webpages or videos that might be useful for me? Is fasttech a good way to go for something like this? any help at all would be appreciated. Thanks!

MVP. Hands down. Days of battery life, proven electronics, Ego & 510 threading, you really can't go wrong. If the box format turns you off I'd encourage you to try it anyway. Don't pay more than $40-$45.
Agree completely! Also not sure I would put the vamo on par quality wise to an MVP but that might just have been mine.. Also if you are willing to get batteries and a charger The Smok Magneto is a very good Mod as are several of the Sigelei mechs. Good luck with your search and do not forget the classifieds here and elsewhere for great deals.

Welcome Blazes!

I'm jumping on the MVP bandwagon as well (I have two, and I'm thinking about getting a third :) )

America's best vaping and ecig deals and steals - 101 Vape or E-Cig Distribution Wholesalers E cig | strictlyecig.com has great prices. Got both of mine from 101vape, but I've heard others who've ordered from strictlyecig. As far as toppers, I use mostly EVODs and a mini ProTank 2 (along with some kayfun clones that I rebuild.) I hear great things about the Nautilus and the Aerotank, but I don't have either of those (yet? ;) ) But, your current Protanks should work just fine.

I've contemplated the Vamo V5 and a Provari, but I'm not sure I want to mess with the separate batteries. The MVP doesn't have the power to let you get into sub-ohmming, but there's a lot of education to be had before one gets into that world. I do rebuild all my own coils now (just because I'm a geek) and run around 1.8 ohms. You can keep it as simple and/or as complex as you'd like.

So, long ramblings short, MVP is a relatively inexpensive step-up from your current gear, and IMO should serve you well.

The difference between the V2 and the V5 are almost none. My suggestion for a complete Vamo kit. Just add juice.
OBTW between my wife and I we own 7 Vamos (4-v2, 2-v3, 1-v5) and use all of the items recommended.

Vamo V2 $25.14

Batteries $12.07

I actually wouldn't mind going with a box mod like the MVP, it seems like it would be easy to use and works well. My question would be if it does not have the replaceable batteries, once the device stops taking a charge well, you would have to replace the whole thing, right? Does the MVP seems to last people a long while (in terms of life of the device)?

I had an MVP for over a year and it was working flawlessly when I sold it.. My brother in law has had one almost a year and it is still working flawlessly. I think the value proposition of an MVP really suggests that if it lasts a year it is cheaper than buying 18650 batteries. I also think they could and probably do last more than a year consistently

Hello and welcome to ECF. You will get a lot of good advice here! I have a MVP that I bought when I first started 8 months ago and it's still going strong. It has outlasted 3 Vamo a 3 and 2 V5's. Button and thread problems on the 5's and have no idea what is wrong with the 3. I wouldn't recommend a Vamo but I don't think you can go wrong with the MVP. IMO

I vote for the MVP too.

Do NOT buy batteries from fasttech. My order was returned to them because of batteries. Instead of offering to take them off my order they put them on the slowest boat in the world. They are telling me 60 day transit and too bad tracking number doesn't work. This after 2 weeks of them trying to ship other ways first and not filling me in on the problem. I'm in dispute with them over the situation. They should not sell batteries to countries they can't ship to.

if you want to go the route of batteries and a charger
and keep the $$ down reasonable, I like this…
- Sigelei Zmax V3 Telescopic
- Sigelei Black Chrome Zmax V5 - Kidney Puncher
- http://www.illumn.com/batteries-cha...s/chargers/nitecore-intellicharge-i4-867.html
- 18650 Sony US18650VTC5 2600mAh High Discharge Flat Top - Batteries - Batteries, Chargers, and PowerPax Carriers

- - -

best bet tho IMO:
not with changeable battery type + charger
- iTazte MVP 2.0

- Innokin iTaste MVP V2.0 - 101 Vape
- Innokin iTaste VV (V3) Express kit - 101 Vape

keep us informed

:)
