Ready to buy first mod, but ....

Hello all! My first post, and I have one question I can not seem to narrow down very well.

I am into vaping for about a month now, and love it. I am ready to buy my first mod, and I know the features I want. After all my research, I'm looking for a variable volt / variable wattage mod, and have several picked on my list of possibilities. Currently looking at the Itaste SVD, SID, LavaTube 2.0, Vamo v5. The other features I would really like are:

1) VV/VW,
2) separate +/- buttons,
3) removable beauty ring (drip well),
4) lock feature,
5) Most durable.

However, the only one I'm finding on my list that has a lock feature is the Itaste SVD. Are there others out there with the locking feature like the SVD? Also, which can handle the assorted bruising?

Any/all suggestions/information will be greatly welcome!

Thanks,
H&C :D

Own the Vamo V2 and V3, Sigelei Zmax V3 and the MVP 2. MVP 2 has a superior chipset to all the listed APVs= smoother more consistent vape rather than the "rattlesnake" crackle of other budget APVs.
If you can get around the fact it is a box Mod it's also of better build quality- Innokin seems to be one of the few Manufacturers focused on quality IMO.

SVD. You can drop it most likely it won't die.

You can drop it and it MIGHT not die.

Or, you can tip it over on your office desk and have the fire button crush in and never come back out, which is exactly what happened to my wife.

I've never come across a more fragile or poorly constructed mod than the SVD. The least they could do is fix the chronic problems they have with the buttons.

Personally I'm a bit disgusted with almost all VV mods. To get a good one you need to buy a Provari. Anything less than that and you may as well buy an MVP2, at least it's cheap enough to be considered disposable.

When I first started vaping I said I would never get a box mod because they looked so uncomfortable to use. I got a Vamo first and did ok with it. Then my addiction to small electronic gadgets took over. I still have my Vamo, and I have a Provari, a SID, iTaste 134, iTaste VTR, and now an iTaste MVP2 Shine. My all time favorite vaping device is the iTaste VTR and second is the MVP 2 Shine. They are both box mods and the VTR is quite heavy. In my opinion, and for what I need, the two box mods out do all the other devices including the Provari. I am a 62 year old grandmother, so you never know what will work until you give it a shot. Good luck with finding just the one that works for you.

I really, deep down, knew this was the response I was going to get. The others are okay, but go with a box mod. It was the very first one initially recommended to me, and it continues to be so. Okay, so here's my follow-on question - does the MVP2 have the lock feature?

Thanks for all the great responses. I very much appreciate the assistance!

You know, CA, I have heard this before. Not a lot though ... would be interesting to know just how many have had issues with the buttons.

On the MVP, you can click it 3 times to shut it off. Another3 to turn it back on.

There is no mechanical lock on the button, but it takes enough force that it won't turn on accidentally in your pocket.

So, it's an ON/OFF switch, not a lock feature. Makes sense.

What about the odd placement of the fire button? Does anyone find that problematic?

No, for me that's fine. The throw of the button is pretty heavy; that bothered me for about 10 minutes. Don't notice it now.
I use either my thumb or index finger (depending on which hand it's in). Certainly like it better than a bottom-fire button.....

Hi Hazedandconfused,

I'm using a sigelei Zmax V5 right now and I think it will fit all your requirements.
It's built like a tank, I've dropped it 2 times from 1.2m heights in my bathroom and it's still going strong until now..
The power is great if you're using 2 x 18350 battery in it.

I'm an Indonesian, so we say it "Terima kasih" :vapor:

Couldn't give you the precise number. Some people have SVDs that work flawlessly. However, I also know of at least two other members here who have had multiple SVDs fail within 6 months.

I've taken one apart before. Didn't like what I found. The battery wire was spliced in rather than being a single wire, and the wires were simply twisted and held together with a single thin strip of tape, not soldered or using a quick disconnect.

It will also shut itself off if it is fired for 10 seconds. Although I think it would be hard to do. As far as button placement, it took me about an hour to get used to it.
