Hi all. I've been vaping now since I got my first ecig on Aug 5th. But still have yet to fully make the switch. I am however down to 10 cigs a day. It doesn't help that the hubby isn't on board with me on wanting to strickly vape. Everytime he goes outside he says "you comming out with me?" and of course I fall into the per presure and go outside with him. I know I should be taking my go with me but I don't, I always reach for the pack. I really want to just say tomorrow is going to be the day that I do not reach for that pack. Today I am using the 24mg American Spirt and I actually feel as though I am having a reg cig...Think this may be the juice I need for a bit.

I guess I am looking for the support from all of you wonderful people on the forum. I am always lurking sometimes posting. But mostly a lurker.

If I want to reach for the cig. I will be comming asking for help . Thanks so much

Sue

Sue, just keep hanging in there. It's not a race, it's not a competition, and IMO you're doing GREAT. And maybe try keeping your ego in hand/pocket at all times, rather than have to make the choice to grab one or the other when you go out with him? The beauty of the e-cig (to me) is that you don't HAVE to change all of the smoking-related habits, like having a couple of minutes of couple-time outside. You just have to change the delivery method.

And if you haven't tried a 30mg, you might. I used 30mg here and there when I felt like I "might" want a cig - like road trips or first thing in the morning. I'm down to 12mg now - mostly because I nonstop vape malty-toffee from bwb, and would od otherwise. ;)

But seriously:

:) Thanks Shan. I do tend to constantly vape when I'm at my computer. Seems to make the time go by.

And I really am trying to Hang on tight. (expecially to my ego...lol) I am also trying to tell myself it's a mind thing. like habbit thing. grabbing the cig and lighting it.

When I do another juice order I think I'll get one bottle of a higher mg. Just to see, maybe I do need that extra kick.

Like my first post says. I do find the american spirt has that cig tast. funny thing though is I sometimes think to myself as I'm "smoking" boy this tastes gross. then as soon as I come in from a smoke I grab for my ego... uhhhhggg. Very frustrating...

Don't think of it as quitting. My first day without tobaco I had a pack in my pocket and my ecig in the other one. I told myself "lets see how today goes" couple times I really wanted to step outside and enjoy but I resisted. The next day I did the same thing. By the 3rd day I was leaving the pack in my lunch box on my desk. Made it harder to just take one out of my pocket and light it while I was outside (i Do go outside alot in my daily job duties) By the end of the week I was just leaving the pack home. I have now been 3 weeks without a real cigarette and dont miss it. I never thought I was "quitting" just said "lets see how the day goes"

My husband just said "She'll quit when she's ready, and there's nothing else you can say." I guess he's right - you've got your equipment sorted, you've got juice you like, and you know you prefer vaping. It'll sort itself out.

I'd probably also recommend that you do try a few new "vape only" flavors - malty toffee or apple or whatever - to keep that "ugh, analogs are kind of gross" thing going, though. :)

Sue, I understand completely. My husband still smokes (in the house) and has no intentions of quitting. I do ok during the day when he is at work, but the minute he comes home and lights one up - oh, boy.

I am at the point that I don't really need to smoke and most of the time it makes me dizzy when I have one. I swear it's mind games that I am playing with myself.

I like the idea of "let's see how today goes". I may try that.

I vaped and smoked for months before finding this forum, my eGo and the right flavors. Then I kind of quit by accident, when it had been a few days I just thought well I made it this far, lets see if I can keep it up. I always have a pack of cigarettes in my purse, if I feel like having one, I vape for 15 minutes then tell myself I can have one if I want, but I never do anymore. Been carrying the same pack around for over 6 weeks now and my 15 minute rule seems to work for me, but if I ever do want one I will have it there. Now they are just kind of there for me to know I don't NEED them, I just wanted one. Don't be too hard on yourself, every analog you don't smoke is a good one, so just do the best you can.

Sue, you're doing just fine. This is the ECF, not rehab. You've made fantastic progress and none of us could fault you for not completely making the switch. It just takes time and you're the only one who will be able to determine when you'll have your last analog. Don't knock yourself. Just hold your head high and vape on!

Sounds like what I went through all the other times I tried to quit. I felt like I was giving something up, it was almost like I went into mourning! That flash of fear when you realize your out or almost out of cigs and your mind races to figure out the closest still open store (seems to always happen at night for me!) With the e-cig I tried to look at it as I wasn't quitting, I was merely changing to a different 'brand' that tasted much better!

I always kept my last one with me and when I felt the urge, I tried to vape through it...and it did work. I got my kit in the mail literally as I was about to go to the store and buy a pack because I had only 1 cig left. And when I still had that one after a week, I tried it...yuck! Always good to try one after about a week of zero cigs because by then you should have the same reaction as most do...it will taste disgusting and it will give you confirmation that you are now a non-smoker.

Also, most of my juice is coffee, waffle, etc. But, I did find the one tobacco one I like. I vaped the other stuff most of the time. I saved the tobacco one for when I felt the cig urge...it felt like I was 'smoking' and got me through the urge easier. So, try saving your fav. tobacco just for those moments and it may help...you'll feel like you cheated!

Good luck...you ARE doing awesome!!

Gadzooks krisb had the first paragraph of my life there...! I heard about these e-cigs and found this forum looking for more information...did some learning on here and ordered...wasn't even thinking of quitting or stopping burning tobacco... it happened on its own, my half pack is in the drawer next to me and I haven't even "checked" on it today!
Just go as it goes, You have a goal and can take as many steps You need to get there... goober will follow later, when HE is ready.... went to the store today, never noticed the cashier smoked before - 3 years she's been there as a steady favorite and now I'm looking for another one.....she just reeks, LOL!

Thank you everyone for the kind words of advice....Today I'm making it a goal to only have no more than 5 cigs. I am going to try and mostly vape today. and when I do go to let the dog out I will bring my ego with me instead of a cig.

My dog is partly at fault...I have that habbit of taking a cig with me to let her out. Cuz she's the biggest baby going and doesn't like to be outside by herself....lol

Keeping a high nic tobacco flavor is just what I did in the beginning. And I only used it as my cig replacement.
I bought a box of 26mg classic tobacco carotmizers from liquidXpress.
When I felt I was going to give in an light up, I screwed it on my ego, went outside like i would for smoking and did 12-15 hits, just like a cig. When I cam inside I took it off put the condoms back on and went back to my tasty grape or caramel apple.

For me it only took 2 days, and i decided I didn't need that flavor anymore. There are way better choices than nasty tobacco.

I wouldn't worry about smoking a few cig.'s. I had no intention of quitting when I started vaping, and I never really tried to quit. I just kept smoking fewer and fewer analogs as time went on. I never denied myself a smoke when I really wanted one, but over several months I wanted one less and less often until I just didn't want them anymore. It must have been a couple of months where I would just smoke one each day (I had a big stockpile). In the end, I had to give away my last two cartons of smokes. I did use stronger nic than you though. I was on 36mg for a long time. I've worked my way down to 28mg now, but 24mg was not enough when I first started (probably because I wasn't really using it right).
