I'm looking for a large-ish, cheap Chinese mod with some way of controlling the power output (VV or VW), decent battery *and* that charges with a USB port. If it could telescope or take a shorter tube for a 18350 too, that would be a plus, but not required.

I'm purposedly excluding slim eGo-style devices (too thin / not enough life) or dna-based devices (too expensive).

The only options coming to my mind are the eVic, eVic Supreme, and the MVP. Any other you can think of?

The eVic, afaik, is discontinued and good riddance! The heads were disposable, the threads lasted an average of 2 months and were nt user replaceable (mine lasted 31 days -fortunately as I got a warranty replacement).

The Supreme, which my wife gave me as present, looks and feels very solid and has addressed a lot of issues of the former model. I'm still getting used to it but so far it's working as expected. It's also massive and heavy, something that doesn't bother me.

You should check the feature length Busardo reviews on it, little can be added to them. Not sure it fits the reasonably priced category, except if you compare it upwards to high echelon mechs.

The MVP I've seen only in pictures so I cannot give an opinion on it.

The Joyetech eCom does have VV/VW and USB charging but they are rather thin. Not quite like an eGo but they still are 14mm in dia. They use a propietary atty too.

I didn't know that device. It looks great. Thanks!

I kinda like my eVic. Sure the thread is a bit flimsy, and the center post has a tendency to sink down when you screw down the atty too hard, but I've mostly solved the problem by installing an airflow controller extension that serves as a thread protector. With that, my eVic has been going strong for months.

Also, the eVic head isn't as tall as the Supreme's, which is something I value. I had money set aside for a Supreme, but when I saw the thing for real, it put me off a bit, and I'm not so sure I want one anymore. I'm still thinking about it though...

Speaking of eVic/Supreme, since you have both, can you tell me if the battery tubes are compatible? Or in other words, could I use the short 18350 tubes I have for my eVic with a Supreme?
