rebuilding ego batts

So i have some dead ego batts lying around (mostly generics that were crap to begin with) and i wondered if i could rebuild them with some quality batteries. I ignored the Chinese warehouses as thats where most of the junk egos seem to come from so its quite possible they are using those same batts. I found these and seem to be the right sizes but im wondering if anyone has tried them or has found any other batteries to put in ego/evod cases...

I have only been vaping for a little over four months and have the usual collection of ego type batteries. So far I have not had any failures of the battery itself but the 510 threads pulled out of two of the FastTech batteries and the circuit board failed on my Ego Twist. I took the head off my Twist and got one of the FastTech batteries going again.

Battery replacement sounds like a good idea and their prices seem to be good. The batteries in your links are probably China batteries but may be of higher quality than what we get in our Ego batteries. I wish there was a source for replacement circuit boards. I have two ordered from FastTech but they are fixed 3.6 volt.

If you try it keep us informed.

How do you take apart an ego type battery?

The head is just crimped on with most of them just wiggle and pull on it and it will pop off exposing the battery.

That's a bad plan. Someone with more technical knowledge will come along soon to explain exactly why, but the gist of it is, are you willing to put a possibly unstable device that close to your face? Do you feel lucky?

As long as the op knows about proper battery safety like using the right battery, and the difference between + and - as well as how to use a solder iron and correctly read a circut board then the op should be fine.

If installed correctly (+ to + and - to -) what makes it unstable or at least less stable than the batteries we use from FastTech? The discharge, overcharge, short protection in an Ego battery is in the circuit board, not the battery itself.

Using a 18650 on a mechanical mod with a .5 ohm coil (as many of our members do) now that's unstable. Even with a protected battery it will get your attention when it relieves itself.

My question is who makes these batteries? seems no one knows and since China's battery production standards are very much unregulated why chance it for such an inexpensive battery.

"Turnigy is the in-house brand of Hobbyking. Turnigy is not a manufacturer. All Turnigy products are re-labeled from various manufacturers and with lower price than the original product."
