what I have heard and seen is that you can use organic cotton balls, some people boil them first. I just picked some up from target but haven't busted into them yet.
Are you rebuilding the protank II atomizer coil as well (as apposed to just re-wicking)? hows it working so far? I've only had mixed luck and can't figure out where I'm going wrong...

There are a bunch of youtube videos on the topic and a long but real good thread on rebuilds here:

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/clearomizers/486794-protank-microcoil-discussion.html

Once you start rebuilding them there is no going back. I added AFC and I'm really digging my Protanks again.

I agree...first I looked at a lot of videos on Youtube and then the thread listed to start using contact micro coils....once you start using micro coils your vaping experience using cotton wick is a whole new ball game...booyah...good luck it is really easy after practice.

Feh. I don't boil the things. First, H2O2 decomposes to hydrogen and oxygen. Second, boiling introduces moisture, which can harbor bacteria and mold. Use organic cotton balls. Walgreens, RiteAid, WalMart, whatever.

That being out of the way, rebuilding ProTanks take them to a whole new level; you won't even believe it is the same clearo. PM me if you need assistance, and good luck and welcome!

If you start making your own coils and using cotton it is so much cheaper. I just started making my own coils after watching video after video and took a stab at it, I have been getting consistent 1.5 ohms every time..You just have to keep practicing until ya get it right and watch the youtube videos. I never thought I would be able to build mine because they are so small so I'm using my dads headband magnifier glasses so I can see (I swear I'm half blind) and I have accomplished it. My hubby just also got me a real Russian 91% and I can also do those and what a great vape I get with no leaking. I love building coils now. I did all my protank coils in one night so now if I need a new one just reach in my box and have a new one. Happy vaping :) Nothing makes ya happier than saying I built this lil bugger

I use 30 ga Kanthal for my rebuilds, 1/16 drill bit 8 wraps @ 1.5. The trick is to use a round toothpick to hold your coil in place while you finish your build. Once you've completed the coil run the toothpick into it and line it up in the head right where you want it. Don't take it out until you've clip the legs on your coils and 99% of the time you just need to give it a quick burn and add some cotton.

I've been "learning" to rebuild my protank II coils for a while now, still struggle with the coil itself some as I was just wrapping the silica, oddly enough I saw a pic today on here that I think will change that little issue, spinning the cotton down to a fine point allowing you to "thread" it into the coil after it's installed in the coil head.. I have big hands and fat fingers so it's been frustrating at times for sure, and my ohms have been all over the map due to inconsistent wrapping on the wick.

Hopefully I will get this mastered sooner than later :) Good luck!

It does get easier trust me I know..I don't think it matters what size fingers or hands you have mine are not real big and I have issues. So I build my coil then I make the cotton a bit small on the end and twist it so it's small enough to go in the coil and gently pull it in until ya feel a slight tug and don't pull anymore and then ya have it done. I use a headband magnifying glasses which helps me see what I'm doing if I don't use them then I can't rebuild as even trying to use my glasses I can't see the coils. I'm blinder than a bat..lol Also look on youtube they have some great videos on it also..I get mine at 1.5 most of the time..It's all trial and error.
