I know this isn't quite the section, but I feel most comfortable asking here.

I have a Tornado, same as an eGo that I use LR atties on. I also have a 5v PureSmoker PT that has spoiled me. Spoiled me to the point that I use it in the car either on a 12v to 120V inverter or a lighter to USB adapter.

I was looking at the Prodigy, but the wait is 3-4 weeks and I'm impatient. I'd prefer the button to be near the atty, not on the end.

Does the XHaler do 5V? Can the Chuck-thought it was only 3.7 or 6v, but I'm not sure.

Thanks.

I would get a 5V box mod first to see if you like it. You can get one pretty cheap here and they have a new 5V flashlight mod coming out soon:

Box Mods - eCigMods - Marietta Georgia - e-Cigarette Modding Shop

I have a 5V GLV and I love it. The button placement is the most comfortable I've had, it's like a detonator! The more I use it, the more my 3.7 mods get neglected, even with the LR attys. The next cool thing coming out as far as 5V goes is the Joker:

*THE JOKER*

It is pretty expensive, but it has built in short circuit protection and has an LED to tell you the charge of the battery. I really want one, but I might have to sell some of my other mods because I think my husband is going to go crazy!

The Chucks don't do 5V.

Thanks. I like 5v. I have a 5v PT. ;) Box mods are a little clunky to me and I really don't want a box in my pocket. And while The Joker looks nice, I just can't afford that. If I could, I'd pony up the exra $50 and get a GGTS. Can you point me towards the GLV? Thanks!

Hi,

There's a great write up (with photos) of various mods here.

It's an amazing list!

Looking through that list shows a serious lack of 5v mods. Most are 3.7 or 6V.

The NHaler supposedly does all 3.

Batteries: 1x 17670 3.7V / 2x CR123A 5V or 6V

You just twist a 'cap' at the end to change the resistance w/ 2 CR123As

Looks like I'm back to either the Prodigy or the XHaler. I do like the Prodigy more, though. I guess I'll have to put up with the wait.

Thanks, everyone.

5 volt boxmods are not that clunky in my opinion, compared to the Sb it is very tiny. The smallest 5v mod I have is a 3AAA box using 10440 batteries you get a couple hours of use not bad considering the batteries are 350Mah. I have not seen anybody selling these, But I know somebody that makes them really well!!
Hmnnn wonder who that could be?....lol

I have to chime in on the 5v box mod's. I love them. I must, i have several of them. They are very affordable, fit comfortably in my hand...and easy to use.

IndyVaporShop sells a great 5v box mod.

So does the link above that Elendil put in his reply.

ALso, CloudsofVapor has a very nice 5v box mod.

You can pick one up for 30 to 40 bucks....thats why i have about 5 of them...I always have backups.

Thanks, Clumsygirl, for recommending Indy vapor shop. I got my box mod today. That sure was fast! Also, thanks to everyone else who suggested I try a box mod. I also got all the other necessities like batts and a charger. Not expensive at all.

This thing rocks! Tons of vapor just like my 5v PT. I'm going to now retire my Tornado with LR atties to my backup pv.

Has anyone used LR atties with 5 Volts? How's that work? I have a few around.

You really shouldn't use LR attys with 5V. I think the regular Joye attys work the best. I just tried some SLB 510 attys and I don't like them near as much as the Joyes.

Well, that love affair didn't last long. The box is only working intermitantly and one set of batts that I bought for backup don't work at all. I've emailed Mike over at indyvaporshop, even though he expresses no warranty. I just think it's unacceptable for a new product to only work for a few hours the first evening you use it.

I guess you get what you pay for.

agreed redgirl there is almost twice as much current drop on that atty coil when you use less resistance and 3.7v now add 1.3v and that goes up by another 30% or so. (rough math here)

formula V/R=I
Voltage / resistance=current

Well, Mike, from Indyvaporshop.com replied to my email. He told me to send it in and he'll replace it. Yay for good customer service. It says right on the box mod page that there's no warranty. I've never dealt with IVS, but so far, besides the little hic-up with the box, I'd give him a A. Let's just hope this goes quickly.
