Hello!

My boyfriend is currently using an standard Ego Style 650mah push button vv battery with his MPT2 and seriously needs an upgrade. I think he needs a vv/vw. I have an itaste vv v3.0 and like it a lot. He likes the features but not the shape. I have been looking for a new unit for him, but haven't found one I think he should go with. He wants vv/vw and passthrough feature with a good battery life, but does not want to use external batteries, wants a round shape (similar to the ego style) and does not want to spend a lot. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks!

Vision Spinner... Smoktech ARO Winder... and I think there's an EVOD Winder. Those are all round, variable (voltage only, though I think the new Vision Spinner II might have a variable-wattage setting), and have their own internal batteries, and none are terribly costly; I don't know if they offer pass-thru or not. There's a new Vision Spinner II, I think it's 1300 mAh, which is pretty good battery life. The ARO Winder has a couple different versions, one is 900 mAh, and one I think is 1500 mAh but don't quote me, I'm not exactly sure, it might be 1300. Don't know for sure about the EVOD Winder, but I think there may be different versions of it too.

However none of those have the nice little screen that tells you all kinds of useful stuff like how much battery charge is left, the resistance of the atty on top, or what level you have it set at. You need the iTaste vv3 for those cool features. :D And of course it can vary either the voltage or wattage. If someone uses the same resistance attys all the time, then variable wattage is not a big deal, but if you jump from atty to atty and they're different resistance, then the variable wattage is a godsend. And of course it does do pass-thru very simply.

I'm not aware of a tube-form mod which uses a passthru function. Your BF is going to have to make some priorities on features that he considers most important.

The iTaste VV3 and MVP2 are the only passthru mods that I am aware of. Although a box form, the MVP is still pocket-friendly and can hold a charge for up to 3 days. Probably the biggest bang for the buck in vaping. USB charger, beauty ring, and iClear tank included. Prices vary by vendor, but can be found for under $60.

Possibly consider the L-Rider Robust. An eGo sized mod that uses a replaceable rechargeable 14500 IMR battery. Variable voltage and variable wattage. No pass thru. LCD display. Available in colors. $49. Of course you'll need to purchase batteries and a box charger additionally which raises the total price.

Just buy him used Evic....or wait for them to go on sale because of the new Evic Supreme
* pass through when not connected to data source (computer)
* just tell him, you don't need to ever remove 18650 battery inside..it has USB battery port to charge,
* if new ones are going for 80 bucks shipped, I think with time they will get cheaper because of all the new regulated mods coming out this year, Innokin has been pretty quite except for reapplying makeup on older technologies mod

Thank you all for the comments.

I don't think the Vision Spinner or such type unit will be what he wants. I have recommended the MVP 2 to him several times and told him it is pocket friendly, but he is set on not having the box style unit. I like the look of the L-Rider Robust, but the fact that it does not have a turn off function and the 14500 batteries are only 600mah, it's charge won't last any longer than what he is using...of course we could have spares...but he really needs a turn off function.

I really my itaste vv. I rebuild our kanger coils so I really want him to have something with vw because I range anywhere from 1.7 to 2.1 ohms on my rebuilds. Maybe I need to make him get the itaste and we'll get an Ego Mega as back ups (I have found some that are 1300mah, pass-through capable, with a digital screen for about $24.00 each...just afraid they will break quickly because I think they are a clone). It would also be great to have another unit with the ohm checker.

Frankly I can't imagine anyone finding anything to dislike about the vv3, other than maybe short battery life, but since it has pass-thru, no biggie. It was my first "mod" after abandoning cig-a-likes, and I liked it so well I bought a 2nd one 3 wks later.

This does seem to be a nice unit, but seems very complex. I might like this, but I know he wont. Downfall to it, is it doesn't seem to be VW. You would think it would be considering all the other stuff it does.

I've had mine about 3 weeks and really want another one, but at the same time, I want a tubular mod with vv/vw. Like you said, the short battery life isn't too much of an issue with the pass-though. I have mine plugged in at work or when in the car...or at home. About the only time it's not charging is when I am out and about. Some times I have been out enough that it got low on me...hence the need for a back up. Maybe I'll break down and try the MVP2 one of these days (I am not a box mod fan myself).

Oh...On the video review I watched, it didn't mention VW. Might have to look into it a little more. If not for him...for myself! lol

For yourself...then get the Supreme...hefty build, 30 watt possibility, and you can put picture of you and your boyfriend on it.
Major Con: Initial price and 1st iteration (possible bugs)

Wait a few months, price will drop..but as of right now...it's in Provape $ territory.

The evic was my first APV.
It has a ton of features, tho many you won't ever use.
The software is upgradeable with a computer connection, and it has pass through abilities.
The 18650 Samsung battery can be recharged without removing it via the USB connection.
(I doubt you'll need the passthrough ability, as the battery will last a long long time between charges).

Like suggested, look for the older evics to drop in price now that the new 30w evic supreme is about to hit shelves.

Probably wouldn't go with the supreme on the first release, but will def check into the Version 2

I would take nothing for my reo but a mvp2 is a heck of a backup. Long battery life, easy to use and just fantastic. I think he would be pleased with it in my opinion. Congrats to you both. Isn't vaping wonderful? It has changed my life in a good way for a change.

Oh yes! I love vaping. All the gear...the choices in liquid...the tinkering you can get into. I haven't had a stinky since I started with the exception of a brief period where I though I might have had a PG sensitivity. Now I know it was jut seasonal allergies (which I don't normally get). I don't miss it at all either. Started with an 18mg nic level but it was too strong. Went immediately down to a 12mg and POW...No issues. I swap between 12mg and 6mg now, so I guess I am at about a 9mg. Loving every minute of it!

The options are limited with all of the feaures he's looking for, and he may not be happy with the performance of any of them.

By him a Sigelei 20W, a handful of Sony VTC5 or Efest Purple 18650 batteries with a Nitecore i4 charger and call it a day. Your investment shouldn't be more than about $120.

Sigelei 20W
Efest Purples
Nitecore i4 charger

It takes ego tanks and 510 atties (Kayfun, Taifun, drippers, etc), is variable wattage 6W-20W, and is very easy to use.

The only other option I can think of is the EPM VW-18490 v2 (small like a box, but oval in shape with variable wattage, passthrough, and an internal battery), but that's a very expensive MOD ($260 + $65 shipping from the guy who makes them in Oz). It's also not a device for beginners to variable wattage. You also can't buy it at a storefront. You have to work with the guy personally via email.

So...I was finally able to convince him to get the MVP 2! It should be here Monday. I just hope is little 650mah push button VV batteries hold up til then. As it stands they are taking 4+ hours to charge. I hope he likes it. My fear is that I will like it too...and we'll have to order another one! lol

The MVP 2, by all accounts, is a GREAT vaporizer. That seems like a good choice.

I see a lot of people using the MVP 2...we were just thrown off by the box shape...but I convinced him it's what he needed to go with. Hey...if he don't like it..I am sure I will and will get a new device. If he does like it...I might have to order another one. lol

About a year ago, whenever I visited my local vape shop, I noticed that most of the sales staff and quite a few customers were using the MVP. I too was put off by the box shape, and wondered why it was so popular.

Well, this same vape shop was having some sort of party and had a raffle, from which I won an MVP. Turned out that after using it I actually liked it alot, and it was pocket-friendly enough that I could use it out of the house, too. As everyone has said, it's a very nice mod and you can't beat the incredible battery life. I believe you & your BF will like the MVP.
