OK, so I've got a Russian 91% and my Protanks are languishing along with my geni and RDAs. On the other hand I do like having more than one atomiser on hand, so it seems I'm in the market for a new bottom-coil rba.

I want:

  • A glass tank, or at least transparent.
  • Access to the build without taking the whole damn thing apart.
  • No NR wire. That looks like a real PITA.
  • At least as good as the R91.
  • No fixed drip-tip. I've found glass; I'm not going back to steel.
  • Air and juice controls.
  • Not tooo expensive.
  • I'll consider quality clones, but not FT; I want it here before next Christmas.

I know I won't get all of those in the same device, but what do folks suggest?

At least as good as the R91.

...And I would like to marry Kate Upton, but I digress. I am not so sure such a thing exists, honestly. One of the reasons I still use my PT2's is exactly what you stated in your #2 bullet point; it is easy to access the build to mess with it. I suppose a good RDA might fit the bill, but that isn't what you are after. I'm drawing a blank, sorry. But I will check back to see if any others might have ideas. Good luck!

Not what you ask for, but have you considered the new crop of drippers with a big well and reduced caps like the Origen or the Magma ?
I find my 3 kayfuns are gathering dust now because of those. The flavor is stellar, the build is easy and can be accessed easily and they contain easily more than 1ml of juice. You don't really count drops in those, just fill your bottle dripper and flush that through the drip tip every once in a while. Much less involved than filling a kayfun twice a day if you ask me.

The Magma can leak easily, is noisy and generally has QC problems. I find the the flavor astonishing though.
The origen is an all around very good performer, won't leak with a full well in your pocket and is as silent as an atomizer can be (no whistle at all, and very thick top cap). The flavor is also very good.
I find both are better than Kayfuns as far as flavor is concerned.

Squape - most versions are glass and it gives you access to the wick and coil just like a PT. It's huge and some clone versions are terrible, but the one I got worked excellently. Gave it too my brother because he wanted something "awesome" that doesn't require a screw driver to refill.

Fogger v.4 - glass. Dual coil, so you best have your coil-building chops in order. Lot of folks like this one, I prefer the Aqua, but you said no steel tanks.

I'm with this poster.

Just like the kayfun has set a new standard.....drippers have also been making vast improvements.

The new drippers have large drip wells, are extremely easy to build single/dual coils on, have adjustable airflow, and hold enough e-liquid to where you don't have to drip on them every few hits.

The magma is one.

The drippers I've been eyeing:

Igo-M
Stillare
Atomic
Helios
Magma

Thanks, everyone, for your suggestions. I've looked deeply into all of them and re-evaluated my requirements. It seems that glass is not to be found with enough of the other features, and plastic is not enough of a draw. On the other hand, I do want to find out if juice-flow control is worth having, so I've put in an order for an Aqua clone. It's too much of an experiment to afford the real thing, much as I'd rather do that, but I can spend £30 to find out if I prefer juice control to being able to see the juice.

Thanks again for all your help.

I have yet to find myself needing the Aqua's so-called juice control function. Halfwise I'm nervous about flooding the thing, and I've been as yet satisfied with the wicking speed of the 3mm ceramic (kiln-treated) yarns inside dual coils of 8-wrap 28g Kanthal (0.5ohm total res).

I have found that a good wick in a properly sized coil provides its own juice control.....up to a point of course.

The Aqua is small, but re-filling it is quite simple (once you get the hang of the flip-twist-flip-twist-fill-twist-flip-twist-twist-wait-flip), requiring no tools nor the atomizer's removal from its mod.

Quick review of the Tobeco Aqua then:

The drip tip hole is big. Fortunately one of my glass tips fits it; it's damned tight in everything else.
The juice control is so tight it's not funny. Some knurling on the tiny collar would be helpful. A bit of eliquid on the top o-ring helps a bit and it will probably ease with use.
I have no patience. It did have a nasty tinny taste first off, but I boiled it in soapy water, rinsed it well, boiled it in clean water and refilled it with The Standard Cell Block 4. Now it tastes fantastic. All with the provided 1.8 ohm coil build. (Looks like 8 wraps of something very small on 2mm silica.)
The build was loose on the terminals and so close to them that it shorted. One leg of the wick is very rough. But, once it was tidied up, it works well.
I make it just under 2ml capacity, small but not horribly small. It could be quite useful for those liquids you're not quite sure if you'll like enough to vape 5ml of.
