Hi everyone. I'm brand new to e cigs. I first tried the disposable Krave cigs they sell at gas stations and I loved it, so I decided to buy a non-disposable. After researching for a bit, I decided on the Red Dragon, mainly because of the size and look and heard that atomizers cause trouble so I liked the idea of disposable ones.

Anyways, I noticed that from the very beginning with a new filter/cartridge it gets really hot. Not burning or anything, but enough to be distracting from the experience. I loved that the Krave never got hot on my lips! I just got this a few days ago, so I'm not sure if it's SUPPOSED to get hot or not. Is this common for Red Dragon and other similar super mini cigs?

Also, is it normal to have to re-charge the battery after 30 puffs or so? Should I unscrew the cartridge to prevent the batt from draining while not in use?

Welcome to ecf. Sorry, I have never heard of Red Dragon, but if it is not pleasant, maybe you should consider a cheaper type of pv, one here you control the hit, charges, etc. If you are interested in finding a much better kit, you could consider a kit from liberty-flights.com(20% discount link in upper left hand of their home page) or vapor4life.com today their discount code is BeatClock.
good luck, questions, be sure to ask.
And no in my experience if a hit it too hot, I would'nt use it.
sas
ps. Charging after 30 hits or so doesn't seem right to me....maybe should exchange it if they let you?

It's KR808D-2 aka E9 and like it's more popular and supported but incompatible cousin KR808D-1, yes some cartomizers are hot. That is why many people LIKE the KR8 models - because they are 3.7v devices and can get a nice warm hit. I use a KR808D-1 and I only buy soft-cap cartos so I pull the white soft cap out and use a plastic drip tip as a mouthpiece on the carto. Then even a hot carto won't be uncomfortable. But I don't know if you have soft-cap cartos because ripoff rebranders prefer to use hard caps or even glued-on caps to discourage refilling.
