Hello all, I'm having a problem refilling my ZAP. when I put the needle tip in the filling hole and start to squeeze juice in, juice comes up the wick and makes a heck of a mess. I can eventually get the tank full, but waste just as much out the top of the wick as I put in. Any tips or tricks?

thanks in advance!

Fill it faster.. If you squirt the juice in there faster it won't leak.

I said slower earlier, but I think the key is steady. Speed depends on liquid viscosity perhaps, although I don't want to make filling a tank sound hard...lol

You just need to fill it fast for it not to come out the wick hole. This is exactly what Zen and Phil Busardo say and I fill it the way the creator and Phil recommend.

I never have juice come out of my wick hole - the key is to fill it so fast that the juice doesn't have time to climb up the wick

I think we're saying the same thing; steady/deliberate motion of the plunger.

a longer needle? does your needle go all the way to the bottom of the device? I used to get this problem, I decided to just buy a 3 inch blunt tip needle, this needle reaches all the way to the very bottom of the tank, problem solved. although I have a lot of gennys, I don't own a zap, but I think it wouldn't matter, for this longer needle will work.

I use a 3 inch syringe and if I don't squirt the juice in quick and steady it will come out the wick hole.

I think the problem is that the fill hole on the Z-Attys is small (diameter is just slightly larger than my syringe tips diameter) and doesn't allow air to escape.

Zen and Phil B. both recommend filling quickly (and I mean really quickly - squirt the juice in FAST so ilthe juice doesn't have time to travel up the wick)

gotcha on the small fill hole, I have heard that before and never thought that it would be a slight problem. its funny how different devices have their own little issues. non the less a 3in needle is awesome, it also reaches to the very bottom of a 50ml bottle of juice

Ya everything has little "issues" but this thing with juice coming out the wick hole on the z-attys is not really an issue. It's not even an inconvenience because if you fill it fast (but not TOO fast) it will not leak at all.

Basically, this "issue" all comes down to user technique.

On another note, I just rebuilt my ZAU with 500 mesh and 32 gauge kanthal 4/3 wrap and first try it came out to 1.5ohms. Im excited - last time I built a genesis RBA it was my ihy with 400 mesh and 28 gauge kanthal with a 3/2 wrap and something just clicked; I figured it out.

The coil I just finished wrapping 5 minutes ago was almost perfect first try but there was one hot spot that was fixed with a couple pokes with a syringe lol

Z-Atty Universal (w/#500 SS mesh wick and 1.5ohm 32ga. Kanthal coil) on top of a Sigelei Telescopic ZMax v3 Flat-top (w/ AW IMR 18650 @ 12.0 watts)

EDIT: just noticed this; in the last pic you can see the hot spot I mentioned above lol
