Hey guys,

I've been vaping primarily with a 5v battery (Vapor Zeus) and almost exclusively with their (Vapor4Life) e-liquids for ~ a year without issue (it's PG-heavy juice).

Recently, I've ventured out to new e-liquid vendors and couldn't be happier with the new, delicious flavors i've been exposed to (thanks in large part to ECF). Unfortunately, they are un-vapable out of my Vapor Zeus... it seems the juice is being scorched by the 5V battery, and it ruins an otherwise delicious vape.. I've had to use my Variable Voltage stick whenever I vape these liquids in order to mitigate the issue.

My question is this: is there a way to tell which e-liquids will be able to handle the power of a 5v battery without tasting terrible / burnt?

As always, I appreciate the help immensely.

Cheers :)

With my 50/50 liquids from ITCVapes and Vape Wild, I consistently vape over 5V without scorching. My tanks are Smoktech ADC II BVC (2.5ohm), Nautilus Mini (1.8ohm) and Kanger Subtank Nano (1.2ohm). The only time I notice scorching is when I'm using a liquid with more PG, and then I have to back off a bit, especially with sweeter flavors.

Thanks so much for the reply, your input / advice is greatly appreciated.

The e-liquids I've noticed the burnt phenomenon with have been 'sweet' flavors as well. Also, I'm using the Vapor4Life 'Smileomizers' (2.5 ohm resistance), which is their version of a "premium" cartomizer, and that's all I have in terms of carts (no tanks unfortunately).. I'm kinda married to V4L due to my batteries all having KR808D threading.

Do you think investing in a different type of cartomizer (or a tank with 808 threading) would help?

Unfortunately, I have no experience with cartomizers. With tanks, I haven't had very good luck with pre-built single coils, which don't seem to tolerate higher voltage well. I'm not a hardware expert by any means, but I stick to my BDC tanks these days (510 or eGO threading with adapter, on 510-threaded VW batteries) and don't experience problems with the liquids I mentioned. It's possible someone on the hardware threads could steer you to better toppers for your 808 batteries.

Cheers man, thanks again for your help. I will definitely make my way over to the hardware forum.

I don't use V4L anymore and haven't for over a year but I gave my Zeus away as I noticed the same problem. Every liquid isn't meant to be vaped at 5 volts, I like to adjust volts. The Smileomizers last I heard have gone down in quality that may be part of your problem.

I understand / agree, that's why the Dial-A-Volt is invaluable when it comes to picking up the slack for e-juices that simply cannot handle the 5v power of the Vapor Zeus. I wish I would've spent some time browsing ECF before I invested so heavily into V4L, I really do. I'm now stuck with several Vapor Zeus batteries and a bunch of Smileomizers, whereas I really wish I would've gotten myself a VW setup with a nice tank.

As for the quality of Smileomizers, I can't comment on whether they're worse than before as I've only been buying them for about a year. But I can say that they're generally good, providing good flavor and excellent vapor production.

You could get an 808 to 510/ego adapter and the 510 or ego tanks would work with it.
If you're strictly looking for an 808 tank, eep there's not much at all the choose from,
a carto tank or an esmart clearo come to mind - you might try EV Cigarettes. I used
to use the mega carto tanks from them and also the esmart clearos on V4L stuff. I'd
go the adapter route though, they're cheap enough.
