Good idea on your part to go the 5 volt route. More flexibility and warmer vapor. But as TomCatt stated, yes, you need a regulator to bring the two 3.0 volt batteries down to 5 volts. 6 volts for most is just too hot whereas 4.5 - 5.0 volts has been widely recognized as the the "sweet spot" for vaping. I would also suggest checking our MadVapes.com. They also have a forum with diagrams. You can also call them and their staff will answer your questions.

You can get it there for the mod or radio shack part number 7805 don't quote me but the radio shack does not have a control pin like the madvapes one i made one with and one without the regulator and 5volts is nice without starting at 6 volts and it comes down with the batterys dieing it taste really good about have way which is around 5 - 4.5 volts but if your going to build one and waste battery too because all a regulator does is dissipate heat to step down voltage either way your not saving battery life by this method might as well just make or buy there vv box mod and you can fine tune your taste.

...only true if you are using a linear regulator...the one below is a pulse width regulator and does not waste power or generate excess heat...giving cooler operation and longer batt life........
