It's been since December but I decided it is time to pull the stuff from the closet. I have some questions to get up to date to see if much has changed in six months.

1) Attys. When I stopped the cisco LR 510 was the hot ticket. Is that still the case. Speaking of that, is there any new technology that I should check out?

2) only one of my Ego batteries works right now. Looking to get replacement or a new mod. Is the ego still the better non-mod? And on mods. Any new ones in the past six months that are awesome? I'd be looking to spend up to 125, to 150, on a VV. VV isn't a requirement.

Thanks for any tips and advice!

Liberty flights Riva 510 kit, after october20 20% discount, is still the generally better price point.

For tech, a lot of people have been playing with dual coil cartomizers, though I don't know how well they work myself, or if they're suitable for eGo/Riva (2 3 ohm atomizers in parallel acts like 1.5 ohms).

On VV, still a lot of positive buzz on Darwin and Provari. Myself, I've been very happy with the Notcigs Infinity. Buzzkill (Mike from Notcigs) is due to come out with a new Buzz Pro pretty soon, should be in the $150 zone; PCBs are being manufactured now, with a new Infinity Pro in August. The Pros will share a PCB that provides extended battery operation in real-world prototype tests by vapers, and both will have the easy adjustment thumbwheel to change voltage (it works well on my current Infinity).

Good luck!

There finally seems to be some "next gen" atomizers starting to make the scene such as Maelstrom and this. Not much has changed inherenetly though. There are "G5 (5th generation) clearomizers" now (a see through cartomizer that can hold like 4ml) and also things like tank systems for eGo and 510 but the latter especially were a general failure tho a few love them.

Having had a slip myself, I've chosen convenience and 36 mg nicotine. I carry three assembled 510's with standard batts, as I find they suffice for 36 mg nicotine tobacco and coffee. I prefill each 510 carto in the morning from 10 ml syringes. I've managed to stick with two flavors of juice so now I really do have something that looks and feels like a cigarette and costs half as much.

I've also accepted that if I try to vape only, I really miss the taste of tobacco. So I smoke once in a while so I can have the true taste.

Good luck to you. But I recommend you try something different than before when you were chasing the latest PV's. What you were doing didn't work before and probably won't work the second time.

HTH,
Dave

Oh, and how long does the juice stay good for? I have a bunch in a box under my bed and wonder if it's still any good

Juice should last around 2 years, at 6 months you'll be golden. Plus if your juice has been steeping under your bed for 6 months... oh dear lord they're gonna be good.

This is what I would recommend to a friend (and did).

Silver Bullet from AltSmoke (It comes in several finishes) or a Phidias by emailing fonosmoak@embarqmail.com
AW 18650 2600mAh Battery (at least 2) from Super T or anyone else that carries it.
A battery charger from any number of places.
510 Stealth or Stainless Cannon 2.5Ω from Ikenvape (at least 2)
30ml bottle of your favorite juice (but if you're paying more than $15.00 you're paying too much)

That will give you a true 3.7v vape and if you really want to go higher there are several different options. You can lower the Ω on your atomizer or go to 2 (not recommended) 3v batteries and get to 6v or as high as 7.4v.

I've used a Silver Bullet for close to 1.5 years. I also enjoy my several Phidiae, but they are priced higher than what you would like to spend. The Silver Bullet can use cartos or attys/cartridges, I drip. The Phidias holds a 3ml bottle that bottom feeds to the bridge. The Silver Bullet is a tube mod. The Phidias is a wood box mod. You can find everything I've listed here on ECF, but you may have to look a little (or PM me). Good Luck :)

I had a pack of attys from TotallyWicked that I had. I pulled out some BWB Cappucino that I had. I recall thinking that I didn't get much flavor from it. First vape all I could do was laugh. Holy crap was it good.

All of the BWB stuff I have just loves to be steeped for a while. It seems like the longer it sits, the better it tastes.

There's several new things worth checking out imo. I recently decided on an e-power and I'm happy with it and ce2 cartos for dripping and duel coil cartos for out and about. Another kit that's been getting good reviews is the slb kgo. Combine it with some duel coils for an instant fog machine. Here is one of the better vids I've seen to see the internals of the duel coils. It's long so slide it out to about 14:30 and start from there, then you can go back if you want to. The dual coils are nice, but take a day or two to break in. I also like the Ikenvape Fusion cartos. And it's hard to bet the Boge 2.0ohm. Darwins and ProVaris are nice (I have the former), but expensive. The MonkeyBox and Reo crowds keep growing larger. I finally broke down and bought a Reo Grand. Now I have three, if that says anything.

I'd be really cautious if you decide to buy any of the clearomizers. IMO, they suck big time. Leak like crazy. Every juice I had cracked the cheap plastic tubes. Finally broke down and ordered some of the MAP tanks out nowadays to salvage using them. Finally ended up give all my CE2 style stuff to a guy being deployed to Afghanistan. Before you buy any, see if a friend will spot you one to try. I'll never buy anymore.

I second the Echo. I lapsed myself and just got back on the wagon....the Echo is just wonderful. It has easy to fill cartos (no mess) and they hold 3ml of juice! Plus, I have never had such a responsive auto battery. I wasn't a fan of autos before because I had to do the primer puff and they just didn't do it for me....so I used the manual....but I just didn't like that either. With the Echo - it is the best of both worlds!

I think Cisco and Ikenvape are both very well loved --- and both have new products since 6 mos ago. I'm a fan.

The ego styles now have 1000 MAH batteries as well as the 650---and a wild assortment of combinations to fit on them. Tho mods and replaceable batteries are a big trend, nothing wrong with staying with the things that did work & JoyE ego style batteries have been great for the long haul. The new ones have a way to turn off--if that's of interest.

The Mod world is quite a study----The extra "umpf" from 3.7 volts can be quite nice & VV is really big now, it seems. You can check out the classifieds for some great deals. There's a bunch of new top feeding systems--some mentioned above & a ton of bottom feeders to choose from.

There is probably also a bunch more juice suppliers as well as Mod Makers -- this industry is growing & changing rapidly.

I relapsed for about 9 months. Back again now trying to make this work. The old juice from Vapor Bomb is still great but the old juice from another website causes severe irritation to my mouth, tongue, throat and lungs.

I have even mixed it with other juice and it does the same thing. I'm gonna have to dump $40 worth of juice.

BTW, it had an extra ingredient to give a better throat hit. It didn't cause any probs when fresh but now its like vaping acid.

You might want to experiment with ratio of VG to PG in the juice. It seems there are differences in the amount of throat irritation from one vs. the other.

In my opinion the ego is still the best non mod device out there. The tank version in type both A and B are out on the market Tye A holds about 1.5 ml and the type holds about 2.5ml I think. Some people say they have leaking with the tank but I have been using the tank for about four months now and have had no issues with it. Duel Coil seems to be the thing now along with the clearomizer. I have tried both and definately prefer the duel coil. As far as mods go I would tell you to go with the reo. Really nice mod and very durable. It is a workhorse.

Both juices are 80PG/20VG mix. I'm just glad that I still had the Vapor Bomb juice or I would still be smoking. Like I said before, that other juice was just fine when it was fresh. Now its really scary.
