So...... I have recently been using my bolt on a frequent basis where I used to alternate from my EgO twist and bolt to mess with different voltages. Frankly vaping at higher voltages is not for me. I used to loathe when I steamed a cigarette and high volatage gives me that same feeling.

Now the bolt uses an 18500 battery, and the ones I have are the Smoktech (green ones 1600mah). I have had four of these cycling since I got them a week ago and one got real hot and then died. I was under the impression these were protected batteries but I am thinking they are not.

My questions is, is there a more reliable 18500 battery that I should consider using? I plan on moving up to a bigger PV soon, to use the 18650 for longer life once I find a decent mod I find interest in (purely mechanical not VV).

So any suggestions and / or opinions on both (battery or mod) would be great. I have had my eye ont the Legacy and then I saw the new Telescope from smok that gotvapes has but it just doesn't have the same allure and for the price, $30+ bucks would get the Legacy.

Thanks,

Cheap route would be the bolt extender for around $9 and a couple Xtar 2600mAh 18700's. Great performance and great price. I'm using my Bolt with Panasonic CGR18650 2250mAh and they are I good bit stronger under load than the Smok 18500. I do like the way the Smok 18500's perform, but I can't speak to the reliability, or even existence, of the protection circuit as I haven't had a problems with them. There is some contradicting info on different sites regarding the protection.

If you want to move into the high-class, I can help much. Shinny doesn't go well with camo. ;)

OK, HERE IS THE DEFINITIVE ANSWER YOU ARE LOOKING FOR IF YOU ARE WILLING TO TAKE THE PROPER PRECAUTIONS... Ok, I'll back off the caps, but here it is, first off AW IMR batteries have the most punch or power surge but DO NOT have a Protection Circut Breaker or PCB but they are a safer chemistry. If you would like to see the difference in performance go to Electronic Cigarettes and AW batteries by Super T there you will see mthe advantages of IMR batteries. You will see that most all long term vapers use AW IMR batteries and you should too for best performance, but keep a meter around so you don't go below 3.6 volts to prevent damage to the battery. I think you can go lower but if you go too low they wont ever charge up succesfully. Another advantage oif IMR tech, is you will have better results with 1.5 Ohm Dual coil cartos! take care and good luck vapeing, youll be happier!
