I recently purchased 2 batteries for a Bolt that I bought, the batteries are, smok ICR18500, 1600mah. I'am new to this type of battery as I have been using Ego's and am wondering if these are "protected" batteries. I'am using the Bolt with standard 510, 2.2 ohm atomizers. Do I need to get another type of battery which would be protected or are these safe with the set-up I'am using ? Thank, himhim

"ICR" is the nomenclature for a protection chip. Where there is a problem is counterfit batteries (there are a few companies in China that have less than steller reputations) However you are less likely to see a counterfit $5 battery than a counterfit $10 IMR battery.
Your best bet is to only buy batteries from vendors that you trust. Price shopping for the "best deal" might not be the best deal in the long run.

Thank you for the info, as I purchased from Litecig I feel that these are the real McCoy.
